Chief Executive Steve Huffman on Sunday reiterated his praise for the r\/WallStreetBets forum that sent Wall Street \u201cmeme stocks\u201d reeling in recent weeks \u2014 though he said he doesn\u2019t get his own financial advice there.<\/p>\n<p> At a congressional hearing last week, Huffman said he was proud of Reddit\u2019s role in the frenzy that sent shares of <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a>Stop Corp.<br \/>\n        GME,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203755179\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-6.43%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and AMC Entertainment<br \/>\n        AMC,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/200235402\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-3.38%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       among other heavily shorted stocks, skyrocketing. After falling back to earth, GameStop stock surged again last week, shooting up 150%, again attributed to Reddit chatter.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       In an interview with \u201cAxios on HBO\u201d that aired Sunday night, Huffman expanded on the role of WallStreetBets: \u201cThat community exposed a gap between those who have access to the financial markets and those who are on the outside,\u201d\u00a0he told Axios. \u201cIn WallStreetBets you see a community, among many things, that is breaking in \u2014 or trying to break through \u2014 into that establishment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At last week\u2019s hearing, Huffman went as far as to say Reddit is one of the best places to get financial advice, \u201cbecause it has to be accepted by many thousands of people before getting that vote of visibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But when asked by Axios if he takes any financial advice from Reddit forums, Huffman said he did not.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cNo, in my personal life I\u2019m very conservative financially,\u201d he said. \u201cBecause Reddit is a growing business, it\u2019s extremely high risk, and so that\u2019s enough risk for me personally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the interview, Huffman also touted Reddit\u2019s forum-moderation system and said the company will continue to allow pornography on its platform, as long as it\u2019s not exploitative. \u201cYou can look at [porn] as exploitative. And, indeed, much of it is,\u201d Huffman said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s not the content that we want on Reddit.  But there\u2019s another aspect that\u2019s empowering. And these are people sharing stories of themselves, pictures of themselves.
