For Kate Hudson, a mostly-at-home 2021 Golden Globes ceremony proved a blessing in disguise.<\/p>\n

The actress, who is nominated for best actress \u2013 motion picture comedy or musical for her role in Sia\u2019s \u201cMusic,\u201d has provoked controversy for playing the sister of a girl with autism. <\/p>\n

Host Tina Fey quipped during the awards show\u2019s monologue that Hudson\u2019s involvement in the film was the \u201cmost offensive casting since Kate Hudson was the Weight Watchers spokesperson.<\/a>\u201c<\/p>\n

The whirlwind of outrage continued online when the Globes official Instagram account posted images of Hudson<\/a>, 41, getting ready to present an award.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe does not deserve a nomination. She engaged in harmful restraints in this ableist film,\u201d said user quinnkrystal420.<\/p>\n

And jane_xenite said, \u201cWell we all know who won\u2019t and shouldn\u2019t win and it\u2019s Kate Hudson.\u201d<\/p>\n

Autism advocates have taken particular issue with actress Maddie Ziegler\u2019s stereotypical performance as the main character, and Hudson\u2019s character\u2019s use of a much-debated technique called \u201crestraint\u201d to calm her sister down during the film.<\/p>\n

Despite the backlash, which forced Sia to delete her Twitter account<\/a>, Hudson still appeared on the telecast. She told preshow host Jane Lynch that she loved making the movie.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an actress and a singer and a dancer, it\u2019s everything you\u2019d want to experience,\u201d Hudson said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
