Get ready for \u201cprivilege gone wild.\u201d<\/p>\n

Netflix dropped a trailer for a documentary that focuses on the methods used by Rick Singer \u2014 the ringleader of the scam to get rich people\u2019s kids into college, who along with more than 50 others were arrested in March 2019.<\/p>\n

Called \u201cOperation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal<\/a>\u201d and set for a March 17 release, the 100-minute doc uses interviews and re-creations of FBI-wiretapp<\/a>ed conversations to show a glimpse of Singer\u2019s shady operation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe help the wealthiest families in the US get their kids into school,\u201d says Singer in the film, played by actor Matthew Modine, in the first minute of the preview. He adds that he\u2019s done more than 700 \u201cside doors\u201d for admission, as opposed to \u201cthe front door,\u201d which means a student gains admission into college on their own merit. \u201cBecause my families want a guarantee.\u201d<\/p>\n

Singer\u2019s \u201cfamilies\u201d included those of celebrities. One couple was \u201cFull House\u201d actress Lori Loughlin<\/a> and her fashion-designer husband Mossimo Giannulli<\/a>, who pleaded guilty<\/a> to paying $500,000 to get their daughters \u2014 Olivia Jade and Isabella \u2014 accepted into the University of Southern California as crew recruits, despite the fact that neither are rowers. Loughlin served two months in federal prison and was released in December, while Giannulli is serving a five-month sentence. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, actress Felicity Huffman \u2014 who pleaded guilty in 2019 for paying Singer $15,000 to inflate one of her daughters\u2019 college-admissions test scores in 2017 \u2014 served 11 days<\/a> of a two-week federal prison sentence.<\/p>\n

Singer himself pleaded guilty in 2019 to charges including racketeering, money laundering and fraud \u2014 and even helped the FBI in its investigation, called Operation Varsity Blues. More than 30 rich parents were discovered to have paid substantial bribes to get their children into elite schools, including Yale and Stanford.<\/p>\n

The trailer goes on to detail other instances of false claims for admission: a 5-foot-5 kid whom Singer claimed to be a basketball player, and a cheerleader who was made to look like a lacrosse player. Clips include re-creations of FBI arrests, as well as news<\/a> clips from Loughlin and Huffman entering and leaving court.<\/p>\n

Chris Smith, the director of 2019\u2019s buzzy \u201cFyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened<\/a>,\u201d directed the film.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the home run of home runs,\u201d says Modine as Singer, re-enacting dialog from a tapped phone call. \u201cAnd it works?\u201d asks the person on the other line. <\/p>\n

\u201cEvery time,\u201d Singer says.<\/p>\n
