The bottom line is: Of course, the crisis was awful, but on balance, overall, the United States handled it as well or better than many of the world\u2019s most advanced countries.\u201d Exhibit A is Nate Silver noting that \u201cwith some exceptions .\u2009.\u2009. the EU\u2019s pandemic handling has been worse than the US\u2019s on balance.\u201d And Matt Yglesias saying of the EU\u2019s vaccine rollout, \u201cWhat a disaster.\u201d Meanwhile, York points out, a graph of US jabs shows steady, \u201ccontinuing progress\u201d from late December onward, while the American death rate from the virus is in line with those of other developed nations. In short, \u201cthe frenzied, hysterical and hostile <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> coverage of the Trump administration during the virus\u2019 worst days .\u2009.\u2009. gave Americans an unbalanced picture of what was h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Disorder watch: Gotham Picks Crime<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Twenty years of growing success in driving down crime rates under Mayors Rudy Giuliani and Mike Bloomberg, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/new-york-city-violence-surging\">observes Heather Mac Donald \u00adat City Journal<\/a>, \u201cset a benchmark for what was possible, preemptively discrediting any future mayor\u2019s excuse that crime was beyond his capacity to overcome.\u201d Yet the citywide rise in crime in 2020 was \u201cworse than the annual numbers suggest,\u201d since the lockdown had street crime dropping from March to late May. And the spike has extended into 2021. What happened? In the wake of George Floyd\u2019s death, city elites felt compelled \u201cto signal a commitment to fighting white supremacy\u201d and so moved \u201cto stop penalizing criminal behavior.\u201d Prosecutors grew even more forgiving, while the NYPD closed its prime anti-gun unit; arrests plummeted. If city leadership doesn\u2019t reverse course, \u201cNew York may be heading back not just to the early 1990s, but to the even grimmer 1970s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Physician: Accept Good Vax <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite the amazing solution of vaccines,\u201d<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/ideas\/archive\/2021\/02\/vaccines-are-banishing-any-debate-about-reopening-schools\/618155\/\"> sighs infectious-disease prof Monica Gandhi at The Atlantic<\/a>, \u201cmany educators, government officials and media commentators cannot seem to permit themselves any optimism yet about when school closures and other emergency restrictions might be eased.\u201d All the approved vaccines \u201cprovide nearly 100 percent protection from severe COVID-19,\u201d including variants. \u201cPowerful data\u201d also show vaccinations reduce spread, even from \u201casymptomatic infection.\u201d Yet predictions of \u201cdeadly\u201d new waves of infection \u201care generating anxiety among the public, including teachers,\u201d and \u201cdistorting the discussion about schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conservative: A Brave Gov\u2019s Fight for Kids<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds recently signed into law a bill requiring \u201cevery public and accredited private school in her state to offer in-person learning, five days a week,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2021\/02\/25\/iowas-governor-beat-teachers-unions-reopened-schools-heres-how-she-did-it\/\">cheers The Washington Post\u2019s Marc A. Thiessen<\/a>, proving that there is at least one \u201cchief executive with the courage to take on the teachers unions.\u201d Reynolds had been sitting in on local school-board meetings and \u201cwas shocked to see the contempt with which parents were treated\u201d for wanting to reopen schools. Union workers in Des Moines voted to not be considered essential workers to avoid returning to the classroom. Reynolds believes that \u201cthe pandemic has created a \u00admoment of clarity, when frustrated parents across the country have finally had enough and are ready to take back control of their children\u2019s education.\u201d If \u201cmore Americans learn about Reynolds\u2019 leadership,\u201d concludes Thiessen, perhaps one day\u201d we will be able to take advantage of this grim moment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Campus beat: So Much for Free Inquiry<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Woke academia\u2019s apologists brush off all criticism of censorship on campus as cherry-picked and anecdotal \u2014 yet, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/academic-freedom-is-withering-11614531962?mod=opinion_lead_pos5\">counters Eric Kaufmann at The Wall Street Journal<\/a>, new data \u201cgive the lie to these claims.\u201d His survey found that \u201c4 in 10 American academics\u201d wouldn\u2019t hire Trump supporters, \u201cwhile in Britain, 1 in 3 academics wouldn\u2019t hire a Brexit supporter.\u201d Plus, \u201conly 28 percent of American academics say they would be comfortable sitting with a gender-critical scholar over lunch, less even than the 41 percent who would sit with a Trump-voting colleague.\u201d Bottom line: Conservative opinions don\u2019t get a \u201cfair hearing.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><em>\u2014 Compiled by The Post Editorial Board<\/em>\n            <\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
