\nJamie Spears<\/strong> is misunderstood! At least, according to his attorney\u2026<\/p>\n

As you likely know, calls for Britney Spears\u2019<\/strong> father to step aside as her co-conservator have seen a resurgence after the New York Times<\/em>\u00a0documentary Framing Britney Spears<\/em> aired last month. The villain of the story (other than the media<\/a> and Justin Timberlake<\/strong>, we mean) is still Brit\u2019s dad, who many feel should give up control of the superstar\u2019s finances by ending the court-ordered conservatorship.<\/p>\n

But after all this time, it seems that Jamie and the #FreeBritney supporters are actually on the same page, as the famous father app<\/a>arently wishes the conservatorship could come to an end, too!<\/p>\n

His attorney Vivian Lee Thoreen<\/strong> told CNN<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

\u201c[Jamie] would love nothing more than to see Britney not need a conservatorship. Whether or not there is an end to the conservatorship really depends on Britney. If she wants to end her conservatorship, she can file a petition to end it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The lawyer continued:<\/p>\n

\u201cJamie is not suggesting that he is the perfect dad or that he would receive any \u2018Father of the Year\u2019 award. Like any parent, he doesn\u2019t always see eye-to-eye on what Britney may want. But Jamie believes every single decision he has made has been in her best interest. Like any parent, he doesn\u2019t always see eye-to-eye on what Britney may want.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Thoreen went on to say that \u201cJamie unquestionably loves Britney\u201d and \u201cmisses her very much,\u201d adding:<\/p>\n

\u201cBut he also respects her, and he wants to give her autonomy and space. And as I\u2019ve said before, like any other family, there are ups and downs. So, Jamie is respectful of Britney\u2019s space, and he is also respectful of her attorney\u2019s request that he not contact her. But the key is Britney knows that she can contact her daddy anytime and that he will be there for her. Whether or not there\u2019s a conservatorship, Jamie will love Britney.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Well, that\u2019s nice to hear \u2014 or it would be if Jamie\u2019s lawyer didn\u2019t directly contradict his daughter\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Previously, Thoreen told Good Morning America<\/em> that the 39-year-old has \u201cnever asked her dad to step aside,\u201d even though the pop icon explicitly said she was \u201cstrongly opposed\u201d to her poppa remaining as her conservator in court docs back in August 2020.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Brit\u2019s attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III<\/b>, later revealed that Britney is \u201cafraid of her father\u201d and \u201cwill not perform as long as her father is in charge of her career.\u201d So, we\u2019re not sure she\u2019s feeling the whole fatherly love business.<\/p>\n

When Ingham filed to remove Jamie as conservator last August, the judge ruled to keep him as conservator and appointed Bessemer Trust to act as co-conservator of her $60 million estate. Jamie\u2019s lawyer stated:<\/p>\n

\u201cJamie never contested or objected to Bessemer being appointed as his co-conservator. And at the last hearing, it was reported that Jamie was trying to get more power than his co-conservator, and that is completely inaccurate. What we were arguing is that Jamie and his co-conservator should have equal power, that was always consistent.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Thoreen maintained that whether or not Britney needs a conservatorship is entirely up to the court, not her father. She added:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe court investigator also interviews everyone who is involved in the conservatorship, and they do a deep dive to really study the conservatorship to find out what\u2019s going on. And what I can tell you is every year the court has kept the conservatorship in place.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Hmm\u2026<\/p>\n
