The commander officer of Brooklyn\u2019s 75 Precinct is set to be transferred from his post by the end of March, sources said. <\/p>\n

Deputy Inspector John Mastronardi is expected to be moved from the city\u2019s largest precinct and sent to the Detective Bureau, sources said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe department is moving him because of some retirements\u201d in the bureau, a police source told The Post. <\/p>\n

But the source also noted \u201cthere is a small portion of the community that wanted him removed.\u201d <\/p>\n

Mastronardi is the subject of a Change.org petition, demanding his removal from the 75 Precinct. <\/p>\n

As of Tuesday night, the petition had garnered 263 signatures. <\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the pandemic DI Mastronardi was seen on multiple occasions not wearing a mask while enforcing the residents of the East New york Community to wear [a] mask,\u201d said the petition. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe is out of touch with our community. He doesn\u2019t have the leadership capabilities to change the history of misconduct for this Police precinct,\u201d the petition continues.<\/p>\n

Early in the pandemic, Mastronardi was captured on video without a mask as his officers \u2014 many also not wearing face coverings \u2014 broke up a group of men for not social<\/a> distancing.<\/p>\n

About a month later, Mastronardi was assaulted by anti-cop protesters trying to storm Brooklyn\u2019s 88 Precinct, sources said. He lost some teeth in the struggle.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It was not immediately clear who would replace Mastronardi to lead the 75 Precinct.<\/p>\n

But, according to a recently announced reform, the community will have the opportunity to offer their input in an advisory role on the next precinct commander.<\/p>\n

An NYPD spokesperson said of the transfer: \u201cWith the recent changes coming to the Chief of Department\u2019s and Chief Of Detective\u2019s offices we anticipate several executive announcements in the near future.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
