But we\u2019d be fools to believe that the journey will be easy. So, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the wake of a surge of carbon neutrality announcements from car manufacturers, and continued uncertainty about what <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">constitutes credible net-zero targets, Polestar is calling for action over aspirations. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Green intentions and opaque promises all sound impressive, but <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">climate neutrality isn\u2019t open to interpretation. Either something is, or it isn\u2019t. Greenwashing only serves to obstruct real progress, leading people to believe they\u2019re making a difference when they actually aren\u2019t. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Climate neutrality can only be achieved by reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through removal or elimination. Through effort and innovation. However, in order to reach these targets, some companies rely too heavily on offsetting emissions through tree planting or investments in renewable energy.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Though we acknowledge that third-party offsetting can be used as a last resort to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions (and realize it will still be necessary in the future), until there are solutions with proven results in place, Polestar views carbon offsetting as a last resort in achieving climate neutrality. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An even more unsettling reality is the fact that many of the same companies declaring their commitment to climate change are still investing in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Internal Combustion Engine<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ICE) tech. While scientists repeatedly<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0emphasize the need for a rapid decline in emissions, ICE vehicles are still rolling off production lines\u2014depleting the remaining carbon budget and making the 2050 deadline impossible. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have to realize, we can\u2019t contribute to the solution at one end and the problem at the other. It\u2019s like playing environmental Jenga.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Clear_standards_Cleaner_results\"><\/span><b>Clear standards. Cleaner results.<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What we need are industry-wide\u00a0parameters. This will enable us to focus on reducing the emissions we can mitigate, audit our value chain effectively, and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">embrace transparent carbon footprint reporting, supply chain ethics, and materials traceability. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We all need to take the road less <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>ed, measure every car brand with the same stick, and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">take tangible steps towards <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a>-based\u00a0goals. Because this is the only way we win the race to net-zero emissions.
