The project will be run within a regulatory sandbox \u2014 dubbed la Arenera \u2014 which was <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roved by the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit in September 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Banco de Bogot\u00e1 will explore the business model and potential risks associated with the management of crypto assets by allowing\u00a0a select group of clients to buy and sell cryptocurrencies from the bank with the national fiat currency, the peso.<\/p>\n<p>Oscar Bernal Quintero, vice president for <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> development at Banco de Bogot\u00e1, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOne of our great motivations is to be an active part of the transformation of the country and we consider it valuable to participate in the construction of the possible regulation that would enable the exchange of crypto assets within the Colombian regulatory framework.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The government of Colombia created la Arenera in order to let local companies test crypto transactions. According to an official <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uiaf.gov.co\/sala_prensa\/noticias_comunicados\/desde_marzo_comienzan_pruebas_30688\">announcement<\/a> by the Financial Analysis and Information Unit, the sandbox was launched in March 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The crypto industry has been actively growing in Colombia.
