You can use it to trim videos or create your own home <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> and slideshows. You can even have it create videos automatically.<\/p>\n<p>This feature is part of the Photos app. It\u2019s what remains of Windows 10\u2019s \u201cStory Remix\u201d application, which Microsoft announced for the Fall Creators Update back in May, 2017.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Trim_Slow_Take_Photos_of_or_Draw_On_a_Video\"><\/span>How to Trim, Slow, Take Photos of, or Draw On a Video<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To edit a video file, open it in the Photos app.<\/p>\n<p>You can do this right from File Explorer by right-clicking the video file, and then selecting Open With &gt; Photos.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355529 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1ed48b76c0a.png\" alt=\"Right-click a video and select Open With &gt; Photos.\" width=\"650\" height=\"451\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The video will open and play in the Photos app. To edit the video, click \u201cEdit &amp; Create\u201d on the toolbar.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355530 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1ed60e6d576.jpg\" alt=\"Click &quot;Edit &amp; Create.&quot;\" width=\"650\" height=\"430\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll see a variety of video editing tools you can use. Click a tool to use it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355531 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1ed656f2102.jpg\" alt=\"The options in the Edit &amp; Create menu in Photos.\" width=\"650\" height=\"393\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For example, to cut a section out of a video, click \u201cTrim\u201d in the menu.<\/p>\n<p>To use the Trim tool, simply drag the two handles on the playback bar to select the portion of the video you want to keep. You can drag the blue pin icon to view what appears at that section in the video, or click the play button to play back the selected section of video.<\/p>\n<p>When you\u2019re done, click \u201cSave a Copy\u201d to save a copy of the trimmed section of the video. To stop editing without saving your changes, click \u201cCancel\u201d instead.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355534 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1ed765dcecf.jpg\" alt=\"Select the section of video you want using the handles and click &quot;Save a copy.&quot;\" width=\"650\" height=\"430\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Photos app places the edited video in the same folder as the original with a similar file name. For example, we edited a video named Wildlife.mp4 and received a video file named WildlifeTrim.mp4.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355535 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1ed7bf78092.png\" alt=\"Videos in a folder in File Explorer.\" width=\"650\" height=\"238\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Other tools work similarly. The \u201cAdd Slo-mo\u201d tool lets you choose a slower speed, and then apply it to a section of your video file, slowing it down.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355538 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1ed8d05a6d7.jpg\" alt=\"Using the Add Slo-mo tool.\" width=\"650\" height=\"434\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The \u201cSave Photos\u201d tool lets you pick a frame of the video and save it as a photo. At the bottom of the window, you\u2019ll see \u201cPrevious Frame\u201d and \u201cNext Frame\u201d buttons you can use to pick a specific frame of a video file.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355539 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1ed91489b7e.jpg\" alt=\"The Save Photos tool.\" width=\"650\" height=\"434\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The \u201cDraw\u201d tool provides tools for drawing on a video. You can use ballpoint pen, pencil, calligraphy pen, and eraser tools, and pick your favorite colors. Anything you draw appears smoothly on the screen during the video\u2014as if you were drawing it\u2014and then fades out and vanishes after a few seconds.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355540 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1ed9dbc234b.jpg\" alt=\"Drawing on a video in Photos.\" width=\"650\" height=\"434\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The \u201cCreate a Video With Text\u201d and \u201cAdd 3D Effects\u201d options both open the more advanced video project interface, which we\u2019ll cover below.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Combine_Videos_Add_Text_and_Apply_3D_Effects\"><\/span>How to Combine Videos, Add Text, and Apply 3D Effects<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To start creating a video project, you can click the \u201cCreate a Video With Text\u201d or \u201cAdd 3D Effects\u201d tool. You can also click the \u201cAdd to a Creation\u201d button at the top left corner with a video open, and then click \u201cNew Video with Music.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355570 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1efbd436945.png\" alt=\"Click &quot;Add to a creation&quot; and click &quot;New video with music.&quot;\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can also get started with a custom video project by launching the Photos app from your Start menu, and then clicking Create &gt; Custom Video With Music on the app\u2019s home page.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_update\"><p><strong>Update:<\/strong> Windows 10 now lets you launch the Video Editor from the Start menu, too. Open the Start menu, search for \u201cVideo Editor,\u201d and launch the Video Editor shortcut. This shortcut opens the list of \u201cVideo Projects\u201d in the Photos app. To quickly make smaller edits on individual videos\u2014for example, to trim an individual video rather than combining multiple videos together\u2014you must open those videos directly in the Photos app from File Explorer.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-715633 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/launch-video-editor-start-menu.png\" alt=\"Launching the Video Editor from the Start menu.\" width=\"650\" height=\"521\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The \u201cAutomatic video with music\u201d option also lets you select your own photos or videos. The Photos app automatically combines them into a custom video for you.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355571 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1efc274bb7d.png\" alt=\"Click the &quot;Create&quot; button and click &quot;Custom video with music.&quot;\" width=\"650\" height=\"263\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll be prompted to add at least one video or photo to create a custom video. You can add photos to get a slideshow or combine photos with a video, if you like.<\/p>\n<p>However, you can also just add one video to edit it, or more than one video to combine them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355574 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1efca1498e2.png\" alt=\"Adding videos to a project.\" width=\"650\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Whichever way you create a custom video project, you\u2019ll end up on a screen with a project library, video preview, and storyboard pane.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355577 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1efd35423ec.png\" alt=\"A video project in the Photos app.\" width=\"650\" height=\"466\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To add one or more videos (or photos) to your project, drag them from the project library to the storyboard. Click the \u201cAdd photos and videos\u201d option under Project library to add more videos to the library. You can then drag them to the storyboard.<\/p>\n<p>Add a video and you\u2019ll see some editing tools in the Storyboard pane. In addition to the standard Trim tool, you can resize a video with Resize, add visual filters with Filters, insert text with Text, apply motion effects with Motion, and insert 3D effects with 3D Effects.<\/p>\n<p>Even if you just want to edit a single video, you can add just that video to your project, use the various editing tools, and then export the video to a new file. Or, if you want to combine videos, you can insert them into the storyboard and edit them together.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355578 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1efd86bd4ce.png\" alt=\"Drag a video from the Project Library to the Storyboard.\" width=\"650\" height=\"466\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The editing tools are fairly self-explanatory. The Trim tool works similarly to the Trim tool you see when editing an individual video. The Resize tool can remove black bars from a video, which is important if you\u2019re combining multiple videos with different aspect ratios into a single project.<\/p>\n<p>The Filters tool offers a variety of filters\u2014everything from Sepia to Pixel.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355583 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1eff4147ab1.jpg\" alt=\"Applying Filters to a video in the Photos app.\" width=\"650\" height=\"468\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Text tool provides different styles and layouts of animated text that you can place at different locations in the video.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355585 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1effbdb48b4.png\" alt=\"Adding Text to a video in the Photos app.\" width=\"650\" height=\"468\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Motion tool lets you choose different styles of camera motion for the video or photo.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355588 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1f003ecdbd5.jpg\" alt=\"Using the Motion tool in Windows 10's Photos app.\" width=\"650\" height=\"403\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 3D Effects tool provides a library of 3D effects you can apply to the video: everything from autumn leaves and winter snowflakes to explosions, fires, and lightning bolts.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355600 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1f0493c6f16.jpg\" alt=\"Adding 3D Effects to a video in the Photos app.\" width=\"650\" height=\"421\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can apply one or more 3D effects, and each one has different options you can use to customize it. Some 3D effects must be placed somewhere in the scene, while others apply to the entire scene.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355602 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1f057213adb.jpg\" alt=\"Adding fake rain to a video in the Photos app.\" width=\"650\" height=\"421\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the Storyboard pane, you can click the speaker icon to select a volume level for each individual video. This is useful if you\u2019re combining multiple videos and one is louder than the others.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-355591 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_5b1f007de267e.png\" alt=\"Changing the volume level of a video in the Photos app.\" width=\"650\" height=\"272\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Rather than customizing each individual option yourself, the \u201cThemes\u201d option on the top bar of the window lets you choose different themes. The Photos app includes a few music options you can choose from. You can then resume editing it on the Photos app on another PC you\u2019ve signed into with the same Microsoft account.
