title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> CEO Jack Dorsey, will acquire &#8220;a significant majority ownership stake&#8221; of JAY-Z-led streaming service TIDAL in a deal worth $297 million in cash and stock, according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-03-04\/square-to-buy-music-service-tidal-make-jay-z-a-board-member\"><i>Bloomberg<\/i><\/a>. TIDAL will continue to operate independently alongside Square, and JAY-Z will also join Square\u2019s board of directors as part of the deal.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            \u201cGiven what Square has been able to do for sellers of all sizes and individuals through Cash <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>, we believe we can now work for artists to see the same success for them, and us,\u201d Dorsey said in a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/squareup.com\/us\/en\/press\/tidal\">statement about the deal<\/a>, also adding that Square&#8217;s stake in TIDAL will help support artists. \u201cSquare created ecosystems of tools for sellers &amp; individuals, and we\u2019ll do the same for artists. We\u2019ll work on entirely new listening experiences to bring fans closer together, simple integrations for merch sales, modern collaboration tools, and new complementary revenue streams.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>            Back in 2015, a number of high-profile artists led by JAY-Z, including Rihanna, Kanye West, Madonna, and more, bought the company for $56 million. While positioning itself as an alternative to other streaming platforms with the promise of high-fidelity audio and exclusive content, subscriber growth paled in comparison to rival Spotify despite a $200 million investment from Sprint.
