“#NY State Senate’s top Dem says one more accuser and Cuomo’s done<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said Thursday that another woman would have to come forward with allegations of sexual harassment by Gov. Andrew Cuomo before she would call for him to resign. <\/p>\n

Stewart-Cousins (D-Westchester) made the taped remarks on Albany public affairs television program, \u201cCapital Tonight,\u201d which were recorded just hours before CBS News<\/a> broadcast a wrenching interview with one of Cuomo\u2019s three accusers.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny further people coming forward, I think it would be time to resign,\u201d she told Spectrum News\u2019 Susan Arbetter in response to a question about what it would take for her to call for Cuomo\u2019s ouster. <\/p>\n

Stewart-Cousins also told Arbetter that she could also call for him to step down after state Attorney General<\/a> Letitia James completes her investigation into Cuomo\u2019s behavior, however that review is not expected to be completed for weeks. <\/p>\n

The \u201cCapital Tonight\u201d interview was taped around 4 p.m., sources told The Post \u2014 three hours before Albany\u2019s local CBS station aired the CBS Evening News and its sitdown with Charlotte Bennett, the former Cuomo aide who now accuses the powerful governor of repeatedly harassing her. <\/p>\n

Cuomo also faces allegations of mistreatment from Anna Ruch, who said that Cuomo made unwanted advances at a New York City wedding for one of his top staffers; and Lindsey Bolyan, a former staffer who is now running for Manhattan District Attorney.<\/p>\n

After the CBS interview aired, Stewart-Cousins app<\/a>eared on another program \u2014 New York 1\u2019s \u2018Inside City Hall\u2019 \u2014 where she described Bennett\u2019s interview as \u201cheartbreaking.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s heartbreaking in a number of ways,\u201d she told NY1. \u201cThe fact that we are here at this time in 2021 really having this conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cI didn\u2019t get a chance to see the entire interview but it\u2019s clear that you know she\u2019s traumatized in a profound way.\u201d <\/p>\n

However, she did not say if the CBS interview changed her position \u2014 nor was she explicitly asked about the topic.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
