Still, investors seemed to take more stock in the improvement in the economy  than the implications for borrowing costs. <\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n<h6><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_are_stock_benchmarks_performing\"><\/span>How are stock benchmarks performing? <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h6>\n<ul class=\"articleList\">\n<li>\n      Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average<br \/>\n        YM00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210407078\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.81%<\/bg-quote><\/p>\n<p>        YMH21,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/217387472\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.81%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n      were up 253  points, or 0.8%, to trade at around 31,131.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      S&amp;P 500 index futures<br \/>\n        ES00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/209948968\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.79%<\/bg-quote><\/p>\n<p>        ESH21,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/215607548\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.79%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       advanced 29.15 points at 3,793.50, a climb of 0.7%. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Nasdaq-100 futures<br \/>\n        NQ00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210219788\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.48%<\/bg-quote><\/p>\n<p>        NQH21,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/215607583\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.48%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       were up 49.50 points, or 0.5%, to reach 12,504.50<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On Thursday, the Dow<br \/>\n        DJIA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210598065\/realtime\" class=\"negative\">-1.11%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       ended 345.95 points, or 1.1%, lower at a one-month nadir of 30,924.14, the S&amp;P 500<br \/>\n        SPX,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210599714\/realtime\" class=\"negative\">-1.34%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       fell 51.25 points, or 1.3%, to 3,768.47, the Nasdaq Composite Index<br \/>\n        COMP,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210598365\/realtime\" class=\"negative\">-2.11%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       slid 274.28 points, or 2.1%, to reach 12,723.47, its lowest in three months and was within 27 basis points of a 10% correction. <\/p>\n<h6><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Whats_driving_the_market\"><\/span>What\u2019s driving the market? <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h6>\n<p>Markets are wrestling with good news on the economic front and what that means for bond yields after the U.S. created 379,000 new jobs in February \u2014 marking the biggest increase in four months.  <\/p>\n<p>On top of that, the official unemployment rate slipped to 6.2% from 6.3%, although economists widely believe the real rate is much higher, data from the Labor Department showed. <\/p>\n<p>Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had expected unemployment to hold steady at 6.3% and 210,000 jobs to have been added.<\/p>\n<p>The jobs data <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear to show that vaccination distribution and fiscal stimulus from Congress is providing a  jolt to the economy in the aftermath of the recession induced by the public health crisis.<\/p>\n<p>But some investors may fear that the surge in job gains\u2014coming after the jobs from December showed a loss of 227,000 and a scant 49,000 gain in January\u2013may overheat the economy.  That is partly why the Nasdaq Composite came close to a correction of 10% on Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe US [nonfarm payrolls] number was booming and economic recovery is in full steam as the unemployment rate also ticked lower,\u201d wrote Naeem Aslam, chief market analyst at AvaTrade, in a Friday note. \u201cHowever, this data has increased the inflation fear and this is pushing the stock futures lower,\u201d the analyst wrote. <\/p>\n<p>Friday morning, the yield on the 10-year Treasury note<br \/>\n        TMUBMUSD10Y,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.000%\" channel=\"\" class=\"\">1.601%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       was hovering around 1.61%, after hitting 1.557% on Thursday, as investors viewed comments from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell as not providing sufficient details on how the central bank might act to cool down the economy if it overheats. A too-hot economy would perhaps compel the Fed to raise interest rates quicker than they would prefer, analysts  worry. <\/p>\n<div id=\"cx-membership-tile\"><\/div>\n<p>During a Wall Street Journal event Thursday, Powell said that the bond market sell-off during the past few weeks has his attention and the central bank wouldn\u2019t sit back and let the financial market conditions tighten broadly.<\/p>\n<p>But some investors are worried that President Joe Biden\u2019s $1.9 fiscal stimulus plan will juice the economy and cause a rapid rise in inflation. Powell didn\u2019t defuse those worries. The Senate on Thursday\u00a0advanced Biden\u2019s fiscal COVID aid package after making a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of adjustments, and is expected to give its approval within days.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the volatility on Thursday also reflected a \u201cgreat rotation\u201d as some analysts describe a shift out of highflying <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> stocks, viewed as expensive by some measures, to other areas of the market considered undervalued, including energy and financials, amid the rise in yields. <\/p>\n<h6><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Which_stocks_are_in_focus\"><\/span>Which stocks are in focus? <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h6>\n<ul class=\"articleList\">\n<li>\n      <strong>Chevron Corp.<\/strong>\u00a0CVX said Friday it has entered an agreement to acquire the 33.925 million shares of Noble Midstream Partners it doesn\u2019t already own in all stock deal.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      <strong>Hibbett Sports Inc<\/strong>.\u00a0HIBB said Friday it had net income of $23.9 million, or $1.39 a share, in its fiscal fourth quarter to Jan. 30, up from $6.0 million, or 34 cents a share, in the year-earlier period.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Shares of <strong>Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd<\/strong>.\u00a0NCLH dropped 4.3% in premarket trading Friday, after the cruise operator said it started a public offering of 47.58 million share.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Shares of <strong>Big Lots Inc<\/strong>.\u00a0BIG rallied in premarket trading Friday, after the discount retailer reported a fiscal fourth-quarter profit that beat expectations and same-store sales that missed, amid a weaker-than-expected December, but provided an upbeat first-quarter outlook. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_are_other_assets_faring\"><\/span>How are other assets faring? <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h6>\n<ul class=\"articleList\">\n<li>\n      The dollar was rising 0.5%, as measured by the ICE U.S. Dollar Index\u00a0DXY, at 92.093.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Oil futures rose\u00a0after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries said it will roll over current production cuts through April, the U.S. benchmark\u00a0CL.1\u00a0gained $1.74, or 2.8%, to trade at $65.59 a barrel, following a gain of over 4% on Thursday. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Gold futures\u00a0GC00\u00a0was trading $8.40, or 0.5%, lower at 1,692.30 an ounce.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Equities traded mixed in Europe, with the pan-European Stoxx 600 index\u00a0SXXP\u00a0flat and London\u2019s FTSE 100\u00a0UKX\u00a0trading 0.7% higher.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Stocks pulled back in Asia: the Shanghai Composite\u00a0SHCOMP\u00a0ended Friday trade less than 0.1% lower, Hong Kong\u2019s Hang Seng Index\u00a0HSI\u00a0lost 0.5%, and China\u2019s CSI 300\u00a0000300\u00a0fell 0.3%, while Japan\u2019s Nikkei 225\u00a0NIK\u00a0shed 0.2%.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"byline article__byline\">\n<p>      <span>By<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"author  hasMenu\" data-scrim='{\"type\":\"author\",\"header\":\"Mark DeCambre\",\"subhead\":\"The Wall Street Journal\",\"list\":[]}' itemscope itemprop=\"author\" itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/Person\">\n<h4 itemprop=\"name\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mark_DeCambre\"><\/span>Mark DeCambre<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
