“#Kanye West ‘very focused’ on Yeezy Gap line, CEO says<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Gap\u2019s chief executive says the app<\/a>arel chain\u2019s partnership with Kanye West<\/a> is still going strong despite the rapper griping that he\u2019s not on the company\u2019s board.<\/p>\n

Gap CEO Sonia Syngal said she spoke with West on Wednesday about their Yeezy Gap collaboration, a line of \u201celevated basics\u201d that\u2019s on track to launch toward the end of the first half of the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s very, very focused on this incredible opportunity,\u201d Syngal told Wall Street analysts on a Thursday conference call<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re both very excited about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cStronger\u201d artist sent Gap\u2019s stock price soaring in June when he announced the 10-year deal between the clothing stalwart and his Yeezy brand, which is reportedly worth up to $3 billion.<\/p>\n

But West, 43, cast shadows on the tie-up when he launched his quixotic presidential campaign the following month, saying he would \u201cwalk away\u201d unless he got a seat on Gap\u2019s board.<\/p>\n

He followed that up with a September tweet noting that he\u2019s also not on the board of Adidas, which makes his Yeezy sneakers. \u201cBLACK BOARD SEATS MATTER,\u201d West wrote.<\/p>\n

But Syngal said West and Gap brand head Mark Breitbard are working \u201cheads down\u201d to produce the apparel line for men, women and kids. West and the company have been working on designs in Wyoming, where he owns a ranch and recorded his 2018 album \u201cye,\u201d according to Bloomberg News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m impressed with how the team is unleashing their creativity and innovation in both the development of the product and the experience for the customer,\u201d Syngal said.<\/p>\n

Gap\u2019s stock price jumped about 5.1 percent to $26.67 in premarket trading Friday after the encouraging news<\/a>, which came alongside a stronger-than-expected quarterly earnings report.<\/p>\n

The San Francisco-based conglomerate posted profits of 61 cents per share for the final three months of 2020, beating Wall Street\u2019s estimates for just about 18 cents a share, according to Bloomberg data. Gap also owns the Old Navy, Banana Republic and Athleta clothing chains.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
