A prominent New Jersey Democratic state lawmaker is facing a drunk driving charge after crashing into a pair of parked cars, authorities said Friday. <\/p>\n

State Sen. Sandra Cunningham (D-Hudson), who serves as deputy majority leader, sideswiped two cars on Culver Avenue in Jersey City around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, a police report says. <\/p>\n

The politician told cops she thought she hit a snowbank, the report says. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was coming down the street when I was about to make a turn, and instead turned into a snowbank,\u201d she told police. <\/p>\n

She was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, cops said.<\/p>\n

Her blood-alcohol levels were not known. Cops took blood for the test, results of which were pending, the report says.<\/p>\n

Cops towed and impounded her car, the report says.<\/p>\n

Former Gov. Jim McGreevey told Northjersey.com<\/a> that he picked Cunningham up from the courthouse later in the day.<\/p>\n

Cunningham could not be reached for comment. <\/p>\n

The smash-up comes on the heels of another prominent state Democratic lawmaker being busted for drunk driving. <\/p>\n

Hawaii\u00a0state Rep. Sharon Har<\/a> \u2014 who has pushed for tougher drunk-driving penalties \u2014 was busted last month for allegedly driving under the influence.\n <\/div>\n
