Once upon a time,\u00a0Chucky<\/em><\/strong>, the\u00a0Child\u2019s Play<\/em> TV series, was going to arrive in 2020. That didn\u2019t happ<\/a>en thanks to the pandemic, and the show hasn\u2019t even begun filming yet. But production is expected to begin soon \u2013 and now we know more about the cast. It\u2019s already been reported that original Chucky Brad Dourif<\/strong>\u00a0would be lending his voice to the show, and that franchise player\u00a0Jennifer Tilly<\/strong> would be involved as well. Now it\u2019s been reported that\u00a0Final Destination<\/em> star Devon Sawa<\/strong> is part of the cast, along with a group of younger actors who will no doubt find themselves running afoul of the killer doll.<\/p>\n

Last summer we got our first teaser for\u00a0Chucky<\/em>, the upcoming Syfy series set in the world of the\u00a0Child\u2019s Play<\/em> franchise. That teaser came with a synopsis: \u201cAfter a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town\u2019s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies \u2014 and allies \u2014 from Chucky\u2019s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll\u2019s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.\u201d
\nNow, thanks to Collider<\/a>, we know some more about will be appearing in the show. Their report reveals that Devon Sawa, who starred in the first\u00a0Final Destination<\/em> and recently appeared in the gnarly indie horror flick\u00a0Hunter Hunter<\/em>, will have a \u201cmajor role\u201d in the series. Also part of the cast: a group of younger actors \u2013\u00a0Zackary Arthur<\/strong>\u00a0(Transparent<\/em>),\u00a0Teo Briones<\/strong>\u00a0(Ratched<\/em>),\u00a0Bjorgvin Arnarson<\/strong>\u00a0(PEN15<\/em>), and\u00a0Alyvia Alyn Lind<\/strong>\u00a0(The Young and the Restless<\/em>). The Collider story describes them as the show\u2019s \u201cfour young leads,\u201d which makes me wonder if\u00a0Chucky<\/em> is trying to follow a\u00a0Stranger Things<\/em> model, with a young cast going up against the forces of darkness.<\/p>\n
