“#Condos along Chicago’s Gold Coast targeted by gunfire: cops<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Chicago police are warning residents in the city\u2019s upscale Gold Coast neighborhood to be on the lookout for an alleged gunman targeting condo buildings.<\/p>\n

Four condo units along the 1100 block of North Lake Shore Drive have been struck by gunfire within the past three weeks, damaging windows or the building\u2019s fa\u00e7ade, Chicago police said in a community alert released Thursday.<\/p>\n

Three condos in adjacent buildings had bullets whizz through their windows in the early hours of Feb. 11, according to police records cited by CWBChicago<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another window was then shattered by a bullet at about 3:15 a.m. Thursday, and at least one round struck the exterior of a neighboring building as well, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

Alderman Brian Hopkins, who represents the upscale area, said it \u201cstrains plausibility\u201d that the three February incidents and the most recent shooting aren\u2019t connected. But investigators reportedly had no evidence as of Thursday that they were linked.<\/p>\n

Condo units as high as the 29th floor and as low as the 12th have been struck by the gunfire, Hopkins said. <\/p>\n

No injuries have been reported, but at least one resident believes the suspect may be shooting from another nearby building, according to the report.<\/p>\n

\u201cI still am of the strong belief that the first [bullet] in our building was a rifle shot from height,\u201d one resident told CWBChicago. <\/p>\n

\u201cI took a string from the hole in the window to where the bullet hit over the lady\u2019s headboard. It was a flat line \u2013 it was not shot from the ground up.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Investigators believe the shooter was on the ground when firing and do not think the suspect or suspects squeezed off the rounds while in vehicles.<\/p>\n

Police are now urging anyone with relevant surveillance video to save a copy for detectives.<\/p>\n
