On Thursday, Baker said pitchers Bryan Abreu, Ronel Blanco and Luis Garcia were sent away from the complex.<\/p>\n<p>It was not known whether the eight pitchers had tested positive for the virus or had come in close contact with someone who had tested positive. There was no exact timetable for their return, but they must quarantine for at least a week under Major League Baseball\u2019s health and safety protocols.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, the Astros lost starter Framber Valdez when he suffered a broken left finger while fielding a ball in an exhibition <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Astros aren\u2019t in any danger of running out of pitchers, however. We\u2019re missing quite a few arms now. We\u2019re concerned, but fortunately we had more pitchers than we knew what to do with when we opened camp,\u201d he told Houston reporters.<\/p>\n<p>The Astros share their spring training complex and ballpark with the Washington Nationals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe heard that they had some things going on over there,\u201d Washington manager Dave Martinez said. \u201cToday was our testing day. Before we got tested, we asked guys questions about whether they were with any of the Houston Astros, coaches included. They all said no, so hopefully we can keep our side of the stadium free of COVID.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to say, our guys are doing a great job about following protocol. So I hope that everybody\u2019s OK over there with Houston and they can nip that in the bud,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Nineteen big league players and six staff have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of spring training, a positive rate of 0.07 percent among 34,541 tests.<\/p>\n<p>Sixteen of the 30 teams have had an individual test positive, the commissioner\u2019s office and players\u2019 association said Friday.<\/p>\n<p>None of the 81 intake tests in the past week were positive, leaving 12 players and three staff positive among 5,317 intake tests thus far, a 0.03 percent positive rate.<\/p>\n<p>All players on 40-man rosters and players with minor league contracts invited to big league training camp are screened. Also tested are all other on-field personnel such as managers, coaches and athletic trainers, strength and conditioning staff and physicians.<\/p>\n<p>In the final figures released last year, MLB said it had collected 172,740 samples and that 91 had been positive, or 0.05 percent. Fifty-seven of 91 positives have been players, and 21 of the 30 teams have had a person covered by the monitoring test positive.<\/p>\n<p>There were 45 regular-season games postponed for virus-related reasons last year but just two were not made up, between St. Louis and Detroit.\n            <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
