“#Tim Rozon on Why Doc & Wynonna’s Very ‘Real Love Story’ Isn’t Working Out<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Season 4, Episode 7 of Wynonna Earp<\/em>, \u201cLove\u2019s All Over.\u201d]<\/strong><\/p>\n

Love \u2014 Cupid\u2019s doing, via a spell \u2014 interrupts Waverly Earp (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) and Nicole Haught\u2019s (Katherine Barrell) bachelorette and<\/em> engagement parties, and wreaks havoc on Purgatory. Come on, what else would you expect from Wynonna Earp<\/em>\u2018s midseason return, the first of its final six episodes?<\/p>\n

Thanks to Cupid\u2019s spell, demon hunter Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano) and gunslinger and vampire Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon) share a dance, bringing them the closest they\u2019ve been since she shot Sheriff Holt Clayborn (Ty Olsson), a member of the Earp-hating Clantons, in the back, going against Doc\u2019s code. (To be fair, Wynonna doesn\u2019t mean to dose everyone at the engagement party with Cupid\u2019s love-inducing sparkles.)<\/p>\n

That dance is \u201creally beautiful because in this moment, everyone falls in love under false pretense [due to Cupid\u2019s spell], but when you see Doc and Wynonna dancing, it\u2019s quite obvious to everybody it\u2019s not fake,\u201d Rozon tells TV Insider. \u201cAnd it\u2019s sad because he then walks away because he knows, even though it\u2019s not fake, it\u2019s not plausible. The one real love story there is the one not working.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the spell is lifted, Wynonna admits, \u201cI don\u2019t want to let go.\u201d Doc is the one to pull away and leave. It\u2019s utterly heartbreaking and a scene that Rozon loves.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t see another way the two of them could connect because they\u2019re so disconnected at this point in the season,\u201d he explains. \u201cHow would they even find a moment to have a little tender connection? It\u2019s lovely, written in the way it happ<\/a>ens. It\u2019s not super heavy, but amongst all the craziness and madness is this beautiful moment between those two characters I love.\u201d<\/p>\n

This all comes about when Waverly unwittingly makes a bet with the actual Cupid \u2014 she thinks he\u2019s just a strip<\/a>per \u2014 that love does exist. When she discovers the truth, she learns he doesn\u2019t believe in love anymore after his boyfriend, demon and bar owner Amon (Noam Jenkins), broke his heart. (Cupid explains he chose her because he hadn\u2019t seen anyone as in love as she is in forever.) But by then, she\u2019s already been spreading his love spell all over town, courtesy of the sparkles he slips into her jacket pocket, making people fall for her and others. It culminates in the scene at Shorty\u2019s bar for her and Nicole\u2019s bachelorette party.<\/p>\n

Rozon says he enjoyed that scene because it featured most of the cast together, something we won\u2019t see too often this season, he previews: \u201cIt\u2019s a lot of duo stuff or Doc by himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking of duo work, Doc also spends a bit of time with Cleo (Savannah Basley), the remaining Clanton who\u2019s a bit lost after her mother\u2019s death (at Waverly\u2019s half-angelic hands) in the midseason finale. It\u2019s from her that he learns Nicole made a deal to hand him over to the Clantons \u2014 their hatred for him goes back to the O.K. Corral in the 1800s \u2014 in exchange for getting Waverly out of the garden at the beginning of Season 4.<\/p>\n

But don\u2019t expect too much \u2014 or any \u2014 friction between Doc and Nicole as a result. \u201cOf all the people, Doc\u2019s the most understanding in those types of moments: Sometimes you gotta look out for number one. He doesn\u2019t have any ill-will towards [Nicole],\u201d Rozon explains. \u201cThis guy can\u2019t be judging anybody after some of the things he did.\u201d<\/p>\n

The episode ends with the tease of a surprising hook-up: Wynonna and Amon. Rozon expects Doc to be jealous, but that he\u2019ll \u201ctry and hide it.\u201d<\/p>\n

While \u201cin his heart, he\u2019d love it if they were together,\u201d he adds, \u201che\u2019s said it before: \u2018She is nobody but her own.\u2019 He means it with every essence of his being.\u201d<\/p>\n

And so the heartbreak continues for Wynonna and Doc. But hey, at least we have happy Waverly and Nicole! Now let\u2019s just hope they get to have their wedding and it\u2019s not as crazy as their engagement party.<\/p>\n
