Buckingham Palace is being accused of having \u201cdouble standards\u201d for probing bullying allegations leveled against Meghan Markle \u2014 but not the sexual-abuse claims involving Prince Andrew.<\/p>\n

Palace-watchers called out \u201cThe Firm\u201d on Friday after Queen Elizabeth ordered an investigation into claims that Markle mistreated staff during her stint as a senior royal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy is there an investigation into this bullying but there\u2019s not been an investigation into Prince Andrew\u00a0and the allegations surrounding Jeffrey Epstein?\u201d Carolyn Durand, co-author of a biography of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, asked on Sky News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy hasn\u2019t he been urged to\u00a0cooperate with US authorities?\u201d she added of Andrew, a onetime close pal of wealthy late convicted pedophile Epstein.<\/p>\n

Believed to be the Queen\u2019s favorite son, Andrew, 61, became wrapped up in the Epstein scandal<\/a> after one of the financier\u2019s victims claimed she was forced to sleep with the royal when she was 17.<\/p>\n

The scandal over Andrew\u2019s friendship with Epstein led the Duke of York to step back from his royal duties<\/a> in November 2019,\u00a0after a disastrous BBC interview\u00a0in which he offered a slew of bizarre claims to defend himself against Virginia Roberts Giuffre\u2019s allegations.<\/p>\n

While Andrew was sidelined, Buckingham Palace never ordered an investigation into the allegations against him.<\/p>\n

Durand, the co-author of \u201cFinding Freedom,\u201d also noted that Prince Harry was strip<\/a>ped of his three honorary\u00a0military\u00a0titles\u00a0when he and his wife stepped down as senior royals last year to pursue a new life in California.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy were Prince Harry\u2019s military honors stripped but Prince Andrew\u2019s haven\u2019t been?\u201d Durand asked.<\/p>\n

She added that \u201cthe double standards\u201d were something Markle had \u201creally struggled with\u201d during her time as a working royal.<\/p>\n

Both Markle, 39, and her husband, Prince Harry, 34, have denied the bullying allegations against the duchess, though they are reportedly expected to be involved in the investigation.<\/p>\n
