\n Facebook is shutting down its TikTok competitor Lasso.<\/p>\n

The social network introduced the app \u2014 which allows users to make short form video clips similar to TikToks \u2014 back in November of 2018.<\/p>\n

The digital white flag was spotted by a reporter from CNN, and informed users of the app that it would be killed on July 10.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the first time that Facebook has shut down copycat apps. It previous killed apps called Poke and Camera \u2014 imitations of Snapchat and Instagram \u2014 after they failed to gain much traction. Facebook later purchased Instagram for $1 billion. Facebook also recently shut down Pinterest clone Hobbi.<\/p>\n

The shuttering of Lasso comes ahead of Instagram\u2019s own TikTok-like tool, called Reels. Instagram has found great success copying the features of Facebook\u2019s rivals, including stealing stories and face filters from Snapchat.<\/p>\n

Reels will allow users to make 15-second video clips set to music and post them to their story. The videos will also have the potential to go viral on a Top Reels feed in the app\u2019s Explore section.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
