\n House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler has handily won the Democratic primary for the congressional district he has represented since 1992.<\/p>\n

Nadler (D-NY) earned 62 percent of the vote in the heavily Democratic 10th Congressional District, which covers most of the west side of Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

An analysis by the Associated Press of absentee ballots returned as of Wednesday showed that Nadler\u2019s lead was too large for either opponent to overcome.<\/p>\n

The 73-year-old lawmaker beat out two primary challengers: Lindsey Boylan, a former adviser to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and Jonathan Herzog, a former staffer of Andrew Yang\u2019s 2020 presidential campaign.<\/p>\n

Both primary opponents criticized Nadler during the campaign for not doing enough for the district itself.<\/p>\n

Those critiques failed to take off, and Nadler gained national notoriety as part of the team that helped lead the Democratic case for impeaching President Trump.<\/p>\n

Unlike other moderates who faced primary challenges, Nadler earned himself progressive credentials with endorsements from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).<\/p>\n

In her endorsement, the 30-year-old Congresswoman described Nadler as someone \u201crespected and admired by progressives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both Warren and AOC endorsed Jamaal Bowman, a 44-year-old former middle school principal, over Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY), who delivered a stinging defeat against the incumbent lawmaker late last month.<\/p>\n

Nadler also had the backing of the Working Families Party, a major power player in progressive circles. WFP endorsed Bowman over Engel.<\/p>\n
