Mayor Bill de Blasio on Monday refused to directly say whether he thought Gov. Andrew Cuomo should resign amid a torrent of sexual misconduct allegations.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll say it my own way,\u201d Hizzoner said at his daily press briefing. \u201cI just don\u2019t see how he can govern effectively when fewer and fewer people believe him. I think there\u2019s more information that\u2019s going to come out that makes it harder and harder.\u201d<\/p>\n

De Blasio\u2019s comments echoed ones he made Friday about Cuomo\u2019s growing sexual harassment and assault scandal \u2014 even after Senate Majority Leader Andrew Stewart-Cousins called on the governor to resign over the weekend.<\/p>\n

The mayor repeatedly dodged questions on Cuomo\u2019s potential resignation, only going as far as saying, \u201cthe situation in Albany is very sad.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s gotten to be worse by the day and fewer and fewer people believe in the governor and that\u2019s a very sad state of affairs for our state,\u201d he said. \u201cBut we\u2019re going to overcome it and we\u2019re going to move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Stewart-Cousins, the highest-ranking Democrat in the New York Legislature, said Cuomo \u201cmust resign\u201d in order for the state to continue to \u201cgovern without daily distraction.\u201d<\/p>\n

Five women have now publicly accused Cuomo of sexually harassing behavior \u2014 after two more, Karen Hinton and Ana Liss, came forward over the weekend.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
