If passed, the merger is expected to see the two projects integrated into a new interoperable network dubbed \u201cKeanu.\u201d <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">1\/ Recently, a couple <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/keep_project?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@keep_project<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NuCypher?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@nucypher<\/a> community members reached out to broker a call. Two whirlwind weeks later, and the teams are putting a joint proposal in front of our communities.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal? To join forces in the first on-chain protocol hard merge.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Matt Luongo (@mhluongo) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mhluongo\/status\/1368963503663513606?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 8, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>The Keep Network is a protocol allowing blockchain users to privately store and transfer data off-chain, with the team using its tech to build the decentralized Bitcoin tokenization protocol, tBTC. NuCypher similarly offers a decentralized data encryption and protection layer for Ethereum-based decentralized <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lications.<\/p>\n<p>The post written by NuCypher CEO MacLane Wilkison to his project\u2019s DAO<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/dao.nucypher.com\/t\/codename-keanu-the-first-ever-decentralized-on-chain-network-hard-merge-between-keep-and-nucypher\/159\"> notes<\/a> that NuCypher\u2019s 2,000 nodes would become signers to tBTC, increasing its node-count by 1,000% and providing a robust foundation for tBTC\u2019s coming v2 overhaul.<\/p>\n<p>The proposals recommend a phased roll-out for the integration. A new staking contract would first be launching, maintaining support for both NU and KEEP as work tokens. Each community will be granted a combined 50% stake in Keanu.<\/p>\n<p>A decentralized autonomous organization, or DAO, managed by the new contracts would shortly follow, followed by tBTC v2\u2019s deployment and integration of the respective client networks. <\/p>\n<p>Despite the networks planning to integrate, development will be driven by two independent teams working toward shared objectives. Keep project lead Matt Luongo <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/forum.keep.network\/t\/proposal-keep-and-nucypher-hard-merge\/74\">wrote<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe Keep and NuCypher networks have built similar <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> with similar goals. Rather than continuing to split the market, we think we can achieve significantly more together. And while both dev teams will remain independent, we\u2019ll all be focused on a single protocol.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a>, Luongo also <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mhluongo\/status\/1368963508940005382\">predicted<\/a> the integration will pave the way for layer-two integrations, suggesting users will soon be able to mint tBTC on Optimism, Arbitrum, Polygon, or zkSync.<\/p>\n<p>Viktor Bunin of blockchain infrastructure provider Bison Trails noted that Keanu would offer the projects\u2019 existing stakers greater modularity, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ViktorBunin\/status\/1368947740802228224\">tweeting<\/a>: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cKeep and NuCypher are both modular. They can add support for new use cases, which stakers can opt into supporting.
