\n With protesters descending on the Hamptons this summer, rich New Yorkers with second homes on the East End are looking for more protection than just their hedges.<\/p>\n

Wealthy Hamptonites are rushing to hire security guards to keep them safe from the threat of unrest, the Post has learned.<\/p>\n

Charlie McArdle, co-founder of CM Security Consulting, says business is booming in the moneyed enclave, and that he\u2019s gotten a flood of calls after Thursday\u2019s protests, which targeted the Hamptons homes of figures such as Mayor Mike Bloomberg, real estate mogul Stephen Ross and Blackstone CEO Steven Schwarzman.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy clients range from the one percenters to people who are concerned about the political climate and what\u2019s going on today,\u201d McArdle said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe make sure there are no trespassers when they are away from their homes and when they are in them too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Members of the Shinnecock Indian Nation also took part in the protest including Rebecca Genia, who said in a statement: \u201cIt\u2019s clear the real looters in New York are billionaires \u2014 and it\u2019s time to make them pay their fair share so we can all thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n

The threat to their cozy summer getaways did not sit will with homeowners who just want to party this Fourth of July weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe protesters are so crazy,\u201d said one Hamptonite, who declined to be named. \u201cI first hired armed guards around two weeks ago, when the protests began, and put a fence around my property to defend it. This is happ<\/a>ening all over the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

McArdle said he \u201cprotects\u201d 16 residences and almost half are owned by billionaires.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe calls came in as soon as the shut down started, in March. People started thinking ahead and added security. They were worried about burglaries as unemployment soared and then they started worrying about protecting their property from protesters,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

McArdle also provides armed guards to drive billionaires, or their offspring, to and from the Hamptons.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
