Robert Langdon, the\u00a0Harvard symbologist with the bad haircut who has a nasty habit of getting caught up in historical mysteries, now has his own TV series. After ordering a pilot last year, Peacock has now ordered\u00a0Dan Brown\u2019s Langdon<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0to series, with\u00a0Succession<\/em> actor\u00a0Ashley Zukerman<\/strong> playing the title character. The show will follow Robert Langdon\u2019s \u201cearly adventures,\u201d and you better friggin\u2019 believe he\u2019s going to have to solve some puzzles along the way. That\u2019s just how Robert Langdon rolls.<\/p>\n

Peacock has announced that\u00a0Dan Brown\u2019s Langdon<\/em> is going to series, so all you Langdon-heads can feel free to solve a\u00a0cryptex to celebrate. The series is a spin-off of sorts of\u00a0The Da Vinci Code<\/em> and, more specifically, an adaptation of Dan Brown<\/strong>\u2018s book\u00a0The Lost Symbol<\/em>. The series \u201cfollows the early adventures of famed Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon, who must solve a series of deadly puzzles to save his kidnapp<\/a>ed mentor and thwart a chilling global conspiracy.\u201d The book\u2019s synopsis might provide some more clues:<\/p>\n

Famed Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon answers an unexpected summons to appear at the U.S. Capitol Building. His plans are interrupted when a disturbing object\u2014artfully encoded with five symbols\u2014is discovered in the building. Langdon recognizes in the find an ancient invitation into a lost world of esoteric, potentially dangerous wisdom.<\/p>\n

When his mentor Peter Solomon\u2014a long-standing Mason and beloved philanthropist\u2014is kidnapped, Langdon realizes that the only way to save Solomon is to accept the mystical invitation and plunge headlong into a clandestine world of Masonic secrets, hidden history, and one inconceivable truth . . . all under the watchful eye of Dan Brown\u2019s most terrifying villain to date.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Robert Langdon first appeared as a character in Brown\u2019s\u00a0Angels and Demons<\/em>, but it was\u00a0The Da Vinci Code<\/em> that truly launched Langdon into the pop culture stratosphere. The character was first brought to life by Tom Hanks, who played Langdon in the\u00a0Da Vinci Code<\/em> movie and then returned to play the character in the\u00a0Angels and Demons<\/em> movie and then again in\u00a0Inferno<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Ashley Zukerman will play the character in the\u00a0Langdon<\/em> TV series, leading a cast that includes\u00a0Valorie Curry<\/strong> (Blair Witch<\/em>), Sumalee Montano<\/strong> (10 Cloverfield Lane<\/em>), Rick Gonzalez<\/strong> (Arrow<\/em>), Eddie Izzard<\/strong> (Ocean\u2019s Thirteen<\/em>), and Beau Knapp<\/strong> (Seven Seconds<\/em>).\u00a0Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie will serve as writers and executive producers for the series.\u00a010 Cloverfield Lane<\/em> director\u00a0Dan Trachtenberg<\/strong> helmed the pilot.\u00a0Dan Brown, Brian Grazer<\/strong>, Ron Howard<\/strong>, Samie Kim Falvey<\/strong>,\u00a0and Anna Culp<\/strong> serve as executive producers.<\/p>\n
