President Biden\u2019s health honcho, Rochelle Walensky, announced Monday that\u00a0vaccinated Americans can visit with others who are\u00a0vaccinated in small groups at home.\u00a0But when Walensky was asked about visiting grandchildren, she said no, unless the kids are local. Even vaccinated people must avoid traveling, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention insisted:\u00a0\u201cEvery time there\u2019s a surge in travel, we have a surge in cases in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Biden administration is making one exception, however. It\u2019s OK to wade across the Rio Grande River and enter the US illegally. Even if you have COVID-19,\u00a0you can get on a bus in a Texas border town\u00a0and\u00a0travel to any part of our nation. Never mind how far and wide COVID-infected migrants spread the virus as they fan out.<\/p>\n

On the travel question,\u00a0Biden\u2019s double standard is mind-boggling.\u00a0It\u2019s a firm \u201cNo\u201d for Granny, but a warm \u201cYes\u201d for illegal immigrants.<\/p>\n

Since Biden took office, he has rapidly\u00a0dismantled\u00a0Team Trump policies that kept migrants in Mexico during the pandemic.\u00a0Some\u00a0100,000 migrants surrendered to US border officials in February, up from 78,000 in January.\u00a0The total figure is likely to reach 1 million this year if the trend continues.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Some single adults are sent back to Mexico, but families are permitted to stay.\u00a0After\u00a0a few days of processing in a detention center, officials grant them documents to travel and\u00a0release them into a Texas border town.\u00a0From there, nonprofits like Catholic Charities get them\u00a0bus tickets to their destination of choice.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the hitch: The feds refuse to test migrants before release, unless they\u2019re visibly sick, even though\u00a0COVID continues to rage in Mexico. Biden\u2019s press secretary, Jen Psaki, explained that\u00a0the administration considers testing a state or local responsibility. That\u2019s ridiculous.<\/p>\n

Some cities, like\u00a0Brownsville\u00a0and\u00a0El Paso, are using rapid tests to identify COVID-positive migrants.\u00a0Other cities don\u2019t test. But either way, city officials explain they have\u00a0no authority to stop infected migrants from traveling; only the feds do.<\/p>\n

When Brownsville, Texas, officials tested migrants last month, more than 6 percent tested positive.\u00a0Some were willing to quarantine at local hotels paid for by charities, but\u00a0many boarded buses for other parts of the country.<\/p>\n

Six percent sounds small, but 6 percent of 1 million migrants adds up to 60,000, spanning out across the nation unhindered.<\/p>\n

And exposing bus riders en route, that is. Last week,\u00a0Greyhound CEO David Leach demanded assurance\u00a0from\u00a0Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas\u00a0that\u00a0undocumented migrants boarding buses in Texas have tested negative.\u00a0So far, no answer.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Team Biden continues to app<\/a>ly the brakes on American life returning to normalcy. Government virus-guru Anthony Fauci has warned\u00a0that\u00a0this is no time to relax. Biden accused the governor of Texas of \u201cNeanderthal thinking\u201d for ending the Lone Star state\u2019s mask mandate.\u00a0And the CDC warns Americans \u201cto avoid all travel\u201d to Guatemala\u00a0and other Central-American countries \u2014 even as the government invites migrants from those same countries into our homeland.<\/p>\n

Travelers flying into the United States\u00a0must have a negative COVID-19 test before boarding, and\u00a0another negative test is recommended after landing. But illegals get a free pass to bring the novel coronavirus to a bus terminal near you.<\/p>\n

Why is this happening? Radical open-borders advocacy groups have taken over the White House, and they get what they demand, no matter how extreme.\u00a0Instead of working with Congress and hearing out open-borders opponents, Biden issues executive orders, shutting out any debate.<\/p>\n

Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), whose district runs along the border, warned that White House officials \u201cshould not only listen to the immigration advocates and activists,\u201d but also to the public affected by open-border policies.\u00a0The facts prove they\u2019re\u00a0dangerous to our health.<\/p>\n
