{"id":199083,"date":"2021-03-11T00:56:02","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T21:56:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/no-correlation-between-nyc-subway-ridership-and-covid-19-spikes-study\/"},"modified":"2021-03-11T00:56:02","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T21:56:02","slug":"no-correlation-between-nyc-subway-ridership-and-covid-19-spikes-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/no-correlation-between-nyc-subway-ridership-and-covid-19-spikes-study\/","title":{"rendered":"#No correlation between NYC subway ridership and COVID-19 spikes: study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#No correlation between NYC subway ridership and COVID-19 spikes: study<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A new study found no correlation between New York City\u2019s autumn COVID-19 spike and subway ridership, according to a transit advocacy group. <\/p>\n<p>The study by the Tri-State Transportation Campaign found that highly-publicized COVID-19 clusters in Brooklyn and Queens in early October did not correspond with high ridership at subway stations.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the high ridership locations did not have \u201cdisproportionate\u201d case levels compared to the rest of the city, researchers for the group wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen cases began to climb again in the fall of 2020, data from New York\u2019s contact tracing program reported that 70% of new COVID-19 cases occurred from households and small gatherings, whereas less than 0.96 percent came from public or private transit,\u201d the report said, citing statewide statistics released by Gov. At the outset of the pandemic, experts had yet to conclude that the virus rarely spreads through surfaces, for example.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sprawling transit system that powered New York City\u2019s development is needed now to power its post-pandemic recovery.
