“#Knicks’ Derrick Rose still out due to COVID protocols<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Derrick Rose could miss the Knicks\u2019 four-game<\/a> road trip<\/a>, which starts the post-All-Star break schedule, because of undisclosed COVID-19 issues.<\/p>\n

Rose, who has missed the past two games after a test came up inconclusive in San Antonio on March 2, was not with the team in Milwaukee for Wednesday\u2019s practice. He has been ruled out for Thursday\u2019s game versus the Bucks.<\/p>\n

The Knicks won\u2019t say if Rose tested positive after the inconclusive test but Thursday will be Day 9 since the San Antonio test. The Knicks announced he\u2019s out for safety protocols.<\/p>\n

According to a source, the league mandates a player to be out 10 days, then an additional two days for workouts.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be honest I can\u2019t answer that because I don\u2019t know,\u2019\u2019 Thibodeau said when asked if he\u2019ll rejoin the club during the trip. \u201cI\u2019m following what Dr. [Lisa] Callahan and what the league says. Once there\u2019s clearance he\u2019ll be available. When we get updated, we\u2019ll update you guys. You\u2019ve seen it throughout the league how it\u2019s been handled. We know it\u2019s serious it is with COVID and we want to take every safety precaution we can.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

The league announced Wednesday that two unidentified players had tested positive since March 3. Rose was reportedly supposed to take a new test March 3 and needed a negative test to be cleared for the March 4 game against the Pistons.<\/p>\n

Elfrid Payton will remain the starting point guard, but Rose\u2019s absence means Frank Ntilikina will continue in the rotation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like the depth,\u2019\u2019 Thibodeau said.<\/p>\n

Center Mitchell Robinson (broken hand) was reevaluated, but Thibodeau didn\u2019t sound like he was ready to come back very soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s still no set timetable,\u2019\u2019 Thibodeau said. \u201cHe\u2019s starting to do more. We\u2019re probably a little ways away. But the conditioning, he\u2019s been very diligent in putting extra work in. so his conditioning is pretty good. The basketball part, he hasn\u2019t been able to scrimmage or anything like that. But he\u2019s handling the ball with his left hand and doing a lot of running. We just have to be patient and let it run it\u2019s course.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
