\n A 36-year-old man is facing an arson charge after burning down a Brooklyn house while playing with fireworks, authorities said Thursday.<\/p>\n

Daniel Bend was arrested Thursday in connection to the June 24 blaze on E. 51 Street near Avenue N that broke out just before 9:30 p.m., according to the FDNY.<\/p>\n

Fire Marshals caught Bend on surveillance footage shooting a Roman Candle into a first-floor window of the 2 1\/2 story home. He had been firing the illegal pyrotechnics in the driveway with two others, fire officials said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bend continues to set off the firecrackers for at least another 10 minutes before going inside to grab more fireworks and notices the fire, video from the neighbor\u2019s house shows.<\/p>\n

Once he spotted the blaze, Bend runs and grabs a hose to try to put out the flames \u2014 but gives up within a minute as the inferno surges out of control, the video shows.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It took 60 firefighters to put out the blaze and the house was left charred and unlivable.<\/p>\n

The fire is one of the latest incidents connected to illegal fireworks as city authorities see an uptick in residents setting off the <\/span>pyrotechnics \u2014 a trend that has stretched throughout the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fire officials have confiscated nearly $37,000 in illegal fireworks over the last nine days and arrested 17 people, according to the FDNY.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Fire Marshals will continue to actively enforce the laws relating to illegal possession and sales of fireworks in New York City,\u201d Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
