Michigan coach Juwan Howard allegedly threatened Maryland coach Mark Turgeon before he was ejected during the second half of Friday\u2019s Big Ten quarterfinal.<\/p>\n

Maryland told the conference that Howard told Turgeon, \u201cI\u2019ll f\u2014ing kill you,\u201d InsideMDSports.com reported<\/a>, citing an unnamed source. <\/p>\n

No formal complaint was filed, per the report. Howard is not expected to be disciplined, meaning he will coach Saturday in the semifinal against Ohio State.<\/p>\n

The two coaches had to be separated by officials and other staff members after a shouting match between the benches broke out in the second half of the Wolverines\u2019 79-66 win.<\/p>\n

Turgeon told reporters he preemptively called Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren about Michigan taunting his bench during two regular-season matchups.<\/p>\n

When it happ<\/a>ened again Friday as Michigan cruised to victory, Turgeon said he \u201cwasn\u2019t going to take it the third game<\/a>. And so I stood up for my team, I stood up for me.\u201d <\/p>\n

He was charged with one technical foul but continued coaching the game, while Howard was thrown out after drawing two technical fouls.<\/p>\n

Michigan freshman Hunter Dickinson trash-talked the Maryland bench during a win on New Year\u2019s Eve, but the report states Howard was doing so as well rather than curtailing his players.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have incredibly passionate coaches, incredibly passionate players, incredibly passionate fans,\u201d Warren said on Big Ten Network. \u201cJust like with all these things, our office does review it from a sportsmanship-policy standpoint, which we did following the game. And there will be no further action. We feel the officials handled it appropriately on the court and diffused the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n

It looked like Howard was gesturing toward the Maryland bench to start the fracas, but he later said he was trying to argue a call with the officials when Turgeon said, \u201cJuwan I\u2019m not going to let you talk to me! You don\u2019t talk to me ever again!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Afterward, Howard told reporters, \u201cI was raised by grandma and by Chicago. When a guy charges you, you go into defense mode\u2026 When he charged me, I reacted.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
