Well, that was awkward.<\/p>\n

The Strokes, who have been in the music biz since 1998, won their first-ever Grammy award Sunday and accepted their career award<\/a> in over two decades in a cringeworthy exchange.<\/p>\n

Host Jhen\u00e9 Aiko announced The Strokes as the winners for Best Rock Album for \u201cThe New Abnormal,\u201d as the feed cut to bassist Nikolai Fraiture, drummer Fab Moretti and frontman Julian Casablancas staring blankly into the camera.<\/p>\n

However, the livestream timed out and the trio had no clue who won.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s cutting out, who won?\u201d Fraiture asked while looking into the camera silently.<\/p>\n

Once they learned they had won, they erupted in cheers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWoah! Damn, sorry we couldn\u2019t hear,\u201d Casablancas said as Moretti added: \u201cWe won the damn Grammy!\u201d<\/p>\n

The Strokes beat out Sturgill Simpson, Fontaines D.C., Michael Kiwanuka and Grace Potter in the category. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe New Abnormal\u201d is the Strokes\u2019 first studio album in about seven years since 2013\u2019s \u201cComedown Machine.\u201d<\/p>\n
