While some are looking to the proposal as a means to cool flaring tensions between Ethereum\u2019s miners and developers, the EIP <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ears to have secured little support from the community.<\/p>\n<p>In recent weeks, tensions have escalated over EIP-1559 \u2014 an upgrade slated for integration in July that is expected to discipline Ethereum\u2019s volatile fee market while significantly impacting miner revenues.<\/p>\n<p>The new proposal, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/ethereum\/EIPs\/blob\/master\/EIPS\/eip-3368.md\">EIP-3368<\/a>, advocates that block rewards im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely be increased to 3 Ether and then reduced to 1 Ether over the two years following 1559\u2019s implementation to ease the impact of Ethereum\u2019s transition to Proof-of-Stake on miners. <\/p>\n<p>On March 13, Ethereum developer Tim Beiko took to Twitter to share EIP-3368, encouraging robust debate over the proposal within the Ethereum community. While Beiko emphasized 3368 \u201cis not accepted\u201d or \u201cscheduled for a fork\u201d yet, the developer described the proposal as \u201cthe most tangible thing to come out of miner conversations [regarding 1559] in the past few weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Coming out of my twitter break to share this: miners&#8217; &#8220;counter proposal&#8221; to 1559 is EIP-3368, which would raise the block reward to 3 ETH and lower it to 1 ETH over ~2 years. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BitsBeTrippin?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@BitsBeTrippin<\/a> should present it at the next AllCoreDevs. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EthMagicians?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@EthMagicians<\/a> thread: <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CLxc30AUPf\">https:\/\/t.co\/CLxc30AUPf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tim Beiko | timbeiko.eth (@TimBeiko) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TimBeiko\/status\/1370515621012664322?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 12, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>While many mining pools have long opposed EIP-1559, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> the upgrade had been scheduled for deployment in July saw prominent miners threaten to organize a \u201cshow of force\u201d in which 1559\u2019s opposers would divert their hash power to a single pool for 51 hours.<\/p>\n<p>However, in response to EIP-3368, Red Panda Mining, a social influencer and crypto miner who was among those pushing for a miner rebellion, pledged their support for the proposal and announced they will \u201crescind from the show of force:\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We have been heard. EIP-3368 has been proposed. Reward to 3 ETH but drops 0.25 every quarter till 1 ETH over 2 years. I am going to rescind from the show of force to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/etherchain_org?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@etherchain_org<\/a> April 1st and so should all of you (unless you were already on ethermine)<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Red Panda Mining (@RedPandaMining) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RedPandaMining\/status\/1370766854583504898?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 13, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>While the comments from Red Panda and Beiko suggesting Ethereum\u2019s miners and developers may be readying to work towards some form of compromise, discussions regarding EIP-3368 on the Ethereum Magicians forums suggest Ethereum\u2019s community is still very divided.<\/p>\n<p>User \u201cgreen\u201d describes the proposal as \u201ca subsidy of users to miners to delay impending change,\u201d adding:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe personal business decisions of miners are not the concern of Ethereum users. You don\u2019t socialize profits, then you don\u2019t socialize losses.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Other forum-goers emphasized efforts from Ethereum\u2019s core developers to expedite the existing network\u2019s chain-merge with Eth2, describing 3368 as merely delaying the inevitable. \u201cDCInvestor\u201d said: \u201cFurther, accommodation of this form only delays the inevitable as we move swiftly towards a merge of eth1 and eth2, where PoW mining rewards will be zero.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIMO, we should avoid measures which encourage further investment in mining hardware by miners given this reality,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<p>There also appears to be resistance to EIP-3358 from within the miner community, with numerous <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ryanth3nerd\/status\/1370856079580491778\">replies<\/a> to Red Panda on Twitter indicating many miners still wish to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TiwazBleddyn\/status\/1370807802298560515\">proceed<\/a> with a show of force. <\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"defi_newsletter\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
