A massive walrus was spotted on the shore of western Ireland on Sunday \u2014 the first confirmed sighting of the tusked creature in the country, a report said.<\/p>\n

The marine mammal was discovered on the rocks along Valentia Island in Kerry, witnesses told the Irish Independent<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe breached out of the water onto the rocks and gave us a bit of a show,\u201d Alan Houlihan told the news<\/a>paper.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought it was a seal at first and then we saw the tusks,\u201d said Houlihan, who was with his 5-year-old daughter when they saw the walrus.<\/p>\n

Marine biologist Kevin Flannery, the director of a local aquarium, told the outlet that Sunday\u2019s discovery, \u201cis the first confirmed sighting of a walrus\u201d in Ireland.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s incredible \u2026 It\u2019s a one-off as far as I\u2019m concerned.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flannery theorizes that the Walrus inadvertently travel<\/a>led from the arctic on an iceberg.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s from the Arctic,\u201d Flannery told the paper. \u201cI\u2019d say what happ<\/a>ened is he fell asleep on an iceberg and drifted off and then he was gone too far, out into the mid-Atlantic or somewhere like that down off Greenland possibly.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
