That was the highest most-active contract finish since March 2, FactSet data shows. <\/p>\n<p>May silver futures<br \/>\n        SIK21,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/213039318\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+1.56%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       also climbed by 38 cents, or almost 1.5%, at $26.29 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>Prices saw volatile trading after the release of U.S. economic data on Monday, but  eventually pared some of their earlier gains. The March Empire State Manufacturing Index rose to a reading of 17.4 from 12.1 in February, the New York Fed said Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Gold ended lower Friday but posted a weekly rise of 1.3%, while silver was up 2.5% for the week. Both metals sn<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ed a three-week skid of falling prices that came as Treasury yields marched higher due, in part, to rising inflation fears stoked by expectations for an accelerated economic recovery. Higher bond yields raise the opportunity cost of holding nonyielding assets like gold.<\/p>\n<p>The yield on the 10-year Treasury note<br \/>\n        TMUBMUSD10Y,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.000%\" channel=\"\" class=\"\">1.612%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       was off 2.1 basis points at 1.614%. Yields and bond prices move in opposite directions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGold is attempting to stabilize after the recent pullback,\u201d but if Treasurys bonds continue to fall sharply, prompting yields, which trade inversely to bonds, to spike higher, \u201cthen it will be effectively impossible for gold to hold recent lows,\u201d analysts at Sevens Report Research wrote in Monday\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>letter.<\/p>\n<div id=\"cx-membership-tile\"><\/div>\n<p>Gold investors await the outcome of the Federal Reserve\u2019s two-day Open Market Committee meeting which ends Wednesday with a statement on monetary policy. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong> Fed to stay dovish this week as Powell channels his inner Gary Cooper calm<\/p>\n<p>While no change in policy is expected at this week\u2019s meeting, \u201ctraders will be closely scrutinizing wording on the Fed\u2019s economic growth and inflation prospects,\u201d said Jim Wyckoff, senior analyst at Kitco.com, in a note.<\/p>\n<p>Among other metals traded on Comex, May copper<br \/>\n        HGK21,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210056589\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.19%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       settled at $4.1405 a pound, little changed for the session. April platinum<br \/>\n        PLJ21,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/216224626\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+1.27%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       rose 0.8% to $1,209.50 an ounce and June palladium<br \/>\n        PAM21,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/217647915\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.82%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       added almost 0.6% to $2,373.70 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>The gold-backed SPDR Gold Shares exchange-traded fund was up by 0.4% in Monday dealings. <\/p>\n<p>Ash said outflows from gold ETFs have continued, but are slowing down, \u201csuggesting there\u2019s not panic at these levels among last year\u2019s record-heavy buyers.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cComex futures and options have seen a move towards bearish betting among hedge funds and other speculators, but positioning is far from extreme and with prices now $300 off August\u2019s peak, the bears look to have missed the big move for now,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"byline article__byline\">\n<p>      <span>By<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"author  hasMenu\" data-scrim='{\"type\":\"author\",\"header\":\"Myra P.
