Libertarian: The CDC\u2019s Absurd Guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reason\u2019s Robby Soave is astounded<\/a>: \u201cThe nation\u2019s top health officials think day-care providers should continue requiring children as young as 2 years old to wear masks at all times\u201d except for meals and naps \u201ceven after all teachers and staff are vaccinated.\u201d The new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control features other advice that\u2019s \u201cabsurdly cautious given just how miraculously effective the vaccines are,\u201d such as forcing the tots to wear masks even outdoors. Yet if all the adults are vaccinated, \u201cthe danger is eliminated almost entirely.\u201d In short, \u201cThe CDC is asserting that 2-year-olds should remain sad, lonely and masked, for no good reason.\u201d<\/p>\n

From the right: Our New \u2018Cultural Curators\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today\u2019s \u201ccultural curators\u201d \u2014 corporations, the media<\/a>, the entertainment industry, sports leagues, academia, Silicon Valley \u2014 \u201cdemand that we fall in line with how they think,\u201d sighs Salena Zito at the Washington Examiner<\/a>. They no longer try \u201cto app<\/a>eal to a wide range of customers\u201d but have turned into \u201csocial-justice organizations.\u201d Their chieftains have \u201clittle in common\u201d with their customers: \u201cRare is someone who attended a community college or state school\u201d given much input into how something is marketed. And these curators don\u2019t care anyway if you \u201cdon\u2019t like the way they demand you think.\u201d Alas, given their vast power, we may be \u201cheading down a road on which we may never be able to reverse course.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conservative: Biden\u2019s Lies Can\u2019t Be Ignored<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Biden administration \u201cwas billed from the beginning as the most honest team assembled since the days of George Washington,\u201d yet it sure has a knack for \u201cdistorting facts,\u201d snarks Joe Concha at The Hill<\/a>. President Biden has avoided a formal press conference for \u201clonger than his 15 predecessors dating back more than 100 years,\u201d and when he does speak publicly, his commitment to the truth \u201cis fleeting.\u201d He keeps suggesting there was no vaccine until he came into office, when he got \u201ctwo doses himself in December and January,\u201d along with the nearly 1 million people being vaxxed per day. With blatantly false claims that the Trumpites responded to the virus with silence, \u201cBiden\u2019s team is throwing kerosene into the gaslighting machine.\u201d But such falsehoods are \u201cnothing new from those who have occupied \u2018The Swamp\u2019 for decades.\u201d<\/p>\n

Iconoclast: Journalists\u2019 War on Journalism<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cCorporate media\u201d are waging an \u201cinformation war\u201d to \u201csilence any competition or dissent,\u201d Glenn Greenwald declares at his Substack page<\/a> \u2014 and they\u2019re coming for Substack. Journalists are \u201cdesperately inventing new tactics to maintain their stranglehold over the dissemination of information.\u201d The latest: \u201cequate any criticisms of their work with \u2018harassment,\u2019 \u2018abuse\u2019 and \u2018violence\u2019, \u201d pretending that any critique \u201cplaces them \u2018in danger.\u2019 \u201d They see any \u201cindependent platform or venue\u201d that \u201cenables any questioning of their pieties\u201d as \u201cthreats to be censored and destroyed,\u201d hence the targeting of Substack, where independent journalists don\u2019t simply write what \u201cthe Pentagon, Wall Street hedge funds, Silicon Valley monopolies, repressive regimes\u201d want. It\u2019s \u201ca war between liberty and authoritarianism, and amazingly, it is journalists who have become the leading proponents of repression.\u201d<\/p>\n

Foreign desk: Biden\u2019s Mideast Opportunity<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are witnessing the last vestiges of what has been known as the Arab-Israeli conflict,\u201d argues Jared Kushner in The Wall Street Journal<\/a>. The Abraham Accords have opened up travel<\/a> and tourism, leading to a flood of social-media images \u201cof Jews and Muslims proudly standing together\u201d and of Muslims on \u201cpeaceful visits to the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem,\u201d disproving the propaganda that \u201cIsraelis prevent Muslims from praying there.\u201d President Biden has refused to appease Iran and \u201cshould be patient and insist that any deal include real nuclear inspections and an end to Iran\u2019s funding of foreign militias.\u201d Then, \u201cif the threat from Iran decreases, so can the region\u2019s military budgets.\u201d It\u2019s a historic chance to \u201ckeep America safe and help the region turn the page on a generation of conflict and instability.\u201d<\/p>\n
