“#Official Marines account walks back tweet ripping Tucker Carlson<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

The II Marine Expeditionary Force has walked back a snarky tweet calling Tucker Carlson a \u201cboomer\u201d over the Fox News<\/a> host\u2019s comments about women serving in the military.<\/p>\n

In a since-deleted tweet from the verified account of their Information Group, the II MEF laid into Carlson over a segment from his show last week in which he said efforts by the US military to accommodate service members who are expecting mothers made \u201ca mockery\u201d of what the armed forces stand for.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat it looks like in today\u2019s armed forces @TuckerCarlson,\u201d the tweet read. \u201cGet right before you get left, boomer\u201d<\/p>\n

But after the tweet came under scrutiny, II MEF deleted it and, in a Saturday reply to one critic, vowed to be more judicious about using its social media<\/a> platform in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are human and we messed up,\u201d II MEF wrote<\/a>. \u201cWe intended to speak up for female Marines and it was an effort to support them. They are a crucial part to our corps and we need them to know that. We will adjust fire and ensure the utmost professionalism in our tweets.\u201d<\/p>\n

Previously, the Pentagon issued a strongly-worded release pushing back on Carlson\u2019s remarks with the headline, \u201cPress Secretary Smites Fox Host That Dissed Diversity in U.S. Military.\u201d<\/p>\n
