The answer is resounding \u201cno,\u201d as Matt concludes his historic journey as <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/tvinsider.com\/show\/the-bachelor\"><em>The Bachelor.<\/em><\/a> While the Season 25 winner was confirmed weeks prior, it\u2019s still just as heartbreaking to watch the runner-up be devastated onscreen. That\u2019s a wrap on this tumultuous \u2014 and truly unprecedented \u2014 season: Not with a bang, but damn sure with a whimper.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Michelle_Wins_Over_Matts_Family\"><\/span>Michelle Wins Over Matt\u2019s Family<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>No surprise here. Matt introduces Michelle to his mom Patty and brother John, and they quickly fall in love with her just like Bachelor Nation has. \u201cI just felt this pull to Matt,\u201d Michelle gushes, as Matt\u2019s mother tears up. \u201cHe\u2019s a world-changer and that\u2019s exactly what I\u2019m looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>John pulls Michelle aside to get to know her better. He asks about Michelle\u2019s past relationships, and learns Michelle broke up with her ex-boyfriend fairly recently (in January 2020). Matt\u2019s mother tells the elementary school teacher that she wishes she could have provided a stable traditional family life for Matt and John. Michelle assures her that Matt\u2019s upbringing is not viewed as a \u201cdisadvantage,\u201d and just makes him more grateful for the small things in life. \u201cI am very much in love with your son, and for me to feel so deeply about somebody so quick is something that surprised me. But does Matt see everything Michelle has to offer?<\/p>\n<p>Not quite. He agrees that Michelle is a kind person, but stresses that he\u2019s \u201cso attracted\u201d to Rachael.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Rachael_Loves_Matt_%E2%80%98Too_Much\"><\/span>Rachael Loves Matt \u2018Too Much\u2019<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Now it\u2019s Rachael\u2019s turn to sit down with John, and he asks the exact same standard questions. Rachael reveals, much like Matt did earlier in the season, that she had never been in love prior to the show. He credits Rachael\u2019s positivity as part of the reason why he fell for her. Yet Patty hints that she\u2019s worried it may not be \u201cenduring love.\u201d Does Patty see Rachael is an infatuation for Matt?<\/p>\n<p>Separately, Rachael assures Patty that Matt\u2019s faith is the foundation of their love. Rachael \u201cfelt it in her soul\u201d that she was fated to meet Matt on <em>The Bachelor. <\/em>\u201cThis was God\u2019s way of putting us together. I don\u2019t know how I would have met him outside of this,\u201d Rachael cries. \u201cMatt is everything I\u2019ve hoped for, prayed for, dreamt for. I really feel like I can begin my life now. I love him, too much obviously.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"giphy-embed\" src=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/t7bTlwIdMlimlyoMxV\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Patty starts the waterworks again, and it just seems that Patty is more overwhelmed by the whole process than either Rachael, Michelle, or Matt.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"So_Who_Does_Matts_Family_Prefer\"><\/span>So Who Does Matt\u2019s Family Prefer?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>John warns Matt that he shouldn\u2019t feel pressured to \u201cjump into a decision where [he\u2019s] not ready.\u201d Patty agrees, and says that love isn\u2019t the only thing in a relationship. Now Matt is questioning whether he can \u201cmake that everlasting hope and commitment.\u201d Sounds like he\u2019s not going to propose to <em>anyone. <\/em><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Second_Thoughts\"><\/span>Second Thoughts<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Instead of going diamond shopping, Matt seeks out Chris Harrison\u2019s guidance. Chris is annoyed by single mother Patty\u2019s input, and seems to regret bringing Matt\u2019s father on the show last week. \u201c\u2018Love fades\u2019? It sets off a relationship course that neither one of us are ready for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Guess this season won\u2019t be ending with a Neil Lane engagement ring.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Matt_Michelle_%E2%80%9CIts_You_Who_I_Want%E2%80%9D\"><\/span>Matt &amp; Michelle: \u201cIt\u2019s You Who I Want\u201d<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Matt and Michelle propel down the hotel (it\u2019s as boring as it sounds), but Matt doesn\u2019t reveal to her that he\u2019s having second thoughts about proposing. Michelle tells Matt that he\u2019s \u201cthe one\u201d who she wants \u2014any other <em>Grease<\/em> fans out there? \u2014 and gifts him a custom jersey that reads, \u201cWorld Changing Warriors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy I put on hold changing the world is because I wanted a partner in crime to do that with me,\u201d Michelle says. \u201cWhat better way to give us a team name?\u201d Her jersey says Mrs. James. We\u2019re not crying, you\u2019re crying!<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Just_Happened\"><\/span>What Just Happened?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Matt privately says that he feels terrible because he\u2019s about to break Michelle\u2019s heart. \u201cI never thought that I would have feelings like I do at this point. It\u2019s a lot, you know?\u201d he starts. Yes Matt, you did sign up to be <em>The Bachelor. <\/em>There\u2019s been 24 other seasons to show you how it\u2019s done. \u201cEverything is becoming real for me,\u201d he continues. \u201cI\u2019m just having doubts. And I shouldn\u2019t be having any doubts about that, we\u2019re like a day or two away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michelle is visibly crushed. \u201cI just want clarity on what this actually is, or how you\u2019re actually feeling,\u201d Michelle rightfully says before sliding away from Matt. \u201cAm I supposed to fight for you? But he\u2019s not telling Michelle that he can\u2019t get there with <em>anyone<\/em>, and she thinks that he\u2019s breaking up with her to be with Rachael. He limply hugs Michelle and they go their separate ways.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Rachael_Doesnt_Get_a_Date%E2%80%A6\"><\/span>Rachael Doesn\u2019t Get a Date\u2026<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Chris surprises Rachael before her scheduled date with Matt. \u201cI was with Matt last night and he was emotional and to be honest, lost,\u201d Chris explains. Shocker: Rachael\u2019s date is cancelled. She\u2019s not too pleased that she put on faux leather pants for nothing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe didn\u2019t even want to see me today,\u201d Rachael complains to no one. \u201cI feel pretty in the dark right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E2%80%A6But_She_Does_Get_a_Rose\"><\/span>\u2026But She Does Get a Rose<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>A confused Matt still meets with Neil Lane (they\u2019re not going to break that contract, come on). Eventually Matt gets wrapped up in the sparkle and glitz of jewelry shopping, and he selects a ring for Rachael. WHY? No one knows.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of weight in this,\u201d Matt gestures towards the diamond. \u201cThis is more than a ring. To me this represents what my father didn\u2019t give to my mother. It represents a lot of broken promises, and if I put this ring on Rachael\u2019s finger, I would never want it to come off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Turns out Matt never puts it on her finger at all. But I couldn\u2019t live with myself if I put you through what my mom\u2019s been through. \u2026 That\u2019s why I can\u2019t propose to you today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rachael is dumbfounded, but Matt says that he doesn\u2019t want to lose her. \u201cWhen I think about the life I want to live, I think about living it with you, and I want to leave here with you and I want to commit to you,\u201d Matt finishes. \u201cThe truth is that I love you. It doesn\u2019t get more real than this.\u201d They kiss, and that\u2019s Matt\u2019s happily ever after Season 25 ending.<\/p>\n<p>Does anyone else feel like this finale was rushed?
