She discusses her shock and pain following Matt\u2019s blindsided breakup. Even worse, she says, Matt refused to talk to her afterwards. \u201cI wasn\u2019t OK. I needed to say my piece because I didn\u2019t get the chance to, and so I asked if I could talk to Matt for two minutes \u2014 not to change his route, not to get in the way of the relationship he was pursuing,\u201d Michelle explains. \u201cHe refused. It was a prime example of not being educated,\u201d Michelle opens up. \u201cI feel like Rachael has a good heart, I do, but I feel like there\u2019s a lot of learning. It comes off very inconsiderate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Emmanuel presses on and asks Michelle her thoughts on Chris Harrison coming to Rachael\u2019s defense (which ultimately resulted in him taking a hiatus from the show, and his not hosting the upcoming season of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/tvinsider.com\/show\/the-bachelorette\"><em>The Bachelorette<\/em><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was another weight that was added on to the already really difficult feelings,\u201d Michelle confesses. \u201cAll of these issues that everyone\u2019s talking around and addressing and apologizing and making statements but not actually changing anything. There\u2019s a point where you\u2019re just so exhausted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And finally we get the moment we, and Michelle, have been waiting for: She faces Matt, who has since grown a beard (sorry, Matt, we recognize you). He <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lauds her for handling the season \u201cwith grace\u201d \u2014 an eerily familiar phrase for Bachelor Nation fans \u2014 and it\u2019s clear Michelle doesn\u2019t want to waste time explaining how Matt hurt her. If you weren\u2019t already part of the Michelle Young fan club, it\u2019s impossible not to be now.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Matt_Emmanuel_on_the_Pressures_of_Being_the_First_Black_Bachelor\"><\/span>Matt &amp; Emmanuel on the Pressures of Being the First Black Bachelor<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Emmanuel asks Matt how much pressure he was under as the first Black Bachelor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou want to make sure you\u2019re on your best behavior in terms of how you\u2019re speaking, how you present yourself, because for a lot of people, it\u2019s the first time having someone like myself in their home,\u201d Matt admits. \u201cI think that any other lead would be asked one thing: to find love, to find someone they\u2019re compatible with. After taping the finale, Matt says with a smile, it felt like \u201can extended honeymoon period\u201d with Rachael.<\/p>\n<p>Emmanuel asks when Matt first became aware of Rachael\u2019s problematic social media past.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile all this controversy is swirling around who Rachael is and things she might have attended and pictures she might have liked and people she\u2019s associated with, I\u2019m trying to be there for her,\u201d he says. \u201cI dismissed them as rumors because that\u2019s what they were to me. You just pray they\u2019re not true. And when you find out that they are, it just makes you question everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was after Rachael\u2019s public apology that Matt decided he didn\u2019t want to be with her anymore. \u201cRachael might not understand what it means to be Black in America,\u201d Matt says. He points out that Rachael has a lot of work to do, but he\u2019s \u201clooking forward to seeing her put in that work.\u201d As of now, however, they are together.<\/p>\n<p>Emmanuel asks Matt why, if he really loved Rachael, he stand by her throughout the scandal. \u201cYou can still really care about somebody and want them to do better,\u201d Matt says. \u201cI don\u2019t think anybody is irredeemable. She says she was \u201cliving in this ignorance.\u201d Emmanuel asks who Rachael \u201cblames\u201d for this lack of judgment, which he likens to prejudice. Rachael says that she doesn\u2019t want to bring up that she was raised in the South, and that she has no excuse for her actions. Emmanuel says that he does not think Rachael is a racist, but that her actions were racially insensitive, which could be construed as racism.<\/p>\n<p>As for Matt, Rachael says she was \u201cblindsided\u201d that Matt broke up with her. \u201cFor him to end things, he must have been very, very hurt by everything,\u201d Rachael says. \u201cI love him so much and I always will.\u201d She also tells Emmanuel that she\u2019s not ready to see Matt. Well, tough luck, Rachael.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Matt_Rachael_Confront_Each_Other\"><\/span>Matt &amp; Rachael Confront Each Other<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>It\u2019s time for the Matt and Rachael show, and Emmanuel does a fantastic job mediating their conversation. There actually does seem to be some sense of closure between the exes. It broke my heart. I didn\u2019t sign up to have this conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rachael tells Matt that he was the only reason why she signed up for the show, and she accepted all of him \u2014 including his race \u2014 before stepping foot in front of the cameras. She says she will never find a love like they share ever again. So will there be a reconciliation?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe feelings I have for you don\u2019t go away overnight,\u201d Matt admits. But \u201cthe work and the reconciliation that needs to be done is work that I can\u2019t do for you. \u2026 The last thing I want is for you to be cancelled or people calling you out for these things. I want them to be calling you <em>in.<\/em>\u201d Yet that \u201cwork\u201d she needs to do is something Matt believes Rachael has to do on her own.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Now\"><\/span>What Now?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Rachael repeats that she\u2019s sorry to Matt, and that she\u2019ll always be thankful to God for meeting him. Emmanuel asks if Matt wants to share \u201cone final embrace\u201d with Rachael, and Matt just shrugs it off. \u201cI don\u2019t know if it will ever not hurt hearing those things,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell thank you both for being here. I know it was difficult,\u201d Emmanuel says. \u201cRachael, continue to grow, and I applaud the steps you\u2019ve taken so far. Like Matt, I don\u2019t agree with cancel culture but I believe in accountability, and I see you\u2019ve been accountable.
