It\u2019s a double dose of \u201990s nostalgia for Soleil Moon Frye.<\/p>\n

The TV star best-known for \u201cPunky Brewster\u201d revisits the character in a revival on Peacock<\/a> and also looks back at her childhood and teenage years in the tell-all Hulu documentary \u201cKid 90<\/a>\u201d (both currently streaming).<\/p>\n

\u201cPunky has always been such a part of my heart. I love her so much, she\u2019s like this superhero within me,\u201d Frye, 44, told The Post. \u201cIt really was a dream come true bringing her back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Frye was first cast as the titular character when she was just 7 years old and went on to play her on the popular NBC sitcom from 1984 to 1988. The series<\/a> follows Punky (Frye), who\u2019s abandoned by her mom in a shopping center and begins living in a vacant apartment. She\u2019s ultimately adopted by building manager Henry Warnimont (George Gaynes), and she also befriends her neighbor, Cherie (Cherie Johnson).\u00a0<\/p>\n

The revival centers on a now-adult Punky living in the same apartment and raising her own kids, including teen daughter Hannah (Lauren Lindsey Donzis) and adopted sons Diego (Noah Cottrell) and Daniel (Oliver De Los Santos). All the while, she\u2019s co-parenting with her ex-husband Travis (Freddie Prinze Jr.), with whom she still has a friendly relationship.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Punky was rediscovering her Punky power again, I felt like I was rediscovering my Soleil Punky power again. We\u2019ve always been the same in so many ways and I\u2019ve always carried Punky with me,\u201d said Frye. \u201cI always felt like if I was 80 years old and people still called me Punky, I would be thrilled.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although her documentary \u201cKid 90\u201d makes Frye seem like the Forrest Gump of the \u201990s \u2014 with connections to every major star of the era, ranging from Leonardo DiCaprio to Charlie Sheen<\/a> \u2014 her \u201cPunky\u201d co-star Prinze, 45, was one of the only \u201990s heartthrobs that she hadn\u2019t previously crossed paths with.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so wonderful meeting him for the first time. I feel like I had known him for years and years; it was a really magical experience where when we first met.\u201d<\/p>\n

Frye did a short-lived 1989 show \u201cGirl Talk\u201d<\/a> with Prinze\u2019s wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, \u201cso I knew her in my tween years and had never met him,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When the two met for lunch before filming the \u201cPunky\u201d revival, they ended up accidentally spying on a marriage proposal together, which turned into a bonding experience, she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis woman runs up [to our table] and says \u2018There\u2019s about to be an engagement happ<\/a>ening,\u2019 so we immedia<\/a>tely go hide but want to watch \u2026 Everyone was clapping, and we turn to each other and say \u2018This is going to work; we\u2019re going to do this together,\u2019\u201d she remembered. \u201cOften when you work with someone, there\u2019s questions around building chemistry or how do you feel like you\u2019ve known each other for years \u2014 but when that happened, it was so mystical and amazing that it felt like we\u2019d had an entire lifetime of knowing each other.\u201d<\/p>\n
