President Biden\u2019s climate czar, John Kerry, sparked outrage Wednesday when he was reportedly spotted going maskless on an American Airlines flight to Washington D.C.<\/p>\n

The Tennessee Star, a conservative news<\/a> website, published a photo<\/a> of a bare-faced Kerry app<\/a>arently flying first-class from Boston to D.C. on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The airline requires all passengers wear masks on board, in accordance with directives from the CDC and TSA and Biden\u2019s Jan. 21 executive order mandating face coverings during interstate travel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cConsistent with U.S. government directives, individuals who refuse to wear a mask may be denied boarding, removed from the aircraft or subject to penalties under federal law, in addition to being barred from future travel with American,\u201d the airline said in a statement<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n

While travelers are general<\/a>ly allowed to remove masks to eat or drink, it doesn\u2019t appear that the former Secretary of State, now the U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, had any food or beverages near him in the photo. A flight from Boston to D.C. is roughly an hour and a half long.<\/p>\n

Several people on Twitter<\/a> called out Kerry, with some conservatives charging the incident was a case of liberal hypocrisy around mask-wearing.<\/p>\n

An American Airlines spokesperson issued a statement saying, \u201cMasks are required on board our aircraft, and we are looking into this.\u201d<\/p>\n

The White House didn\u2019t immediately return a request for comment.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
