Marvel has no shortage of charming guys in suits, and\u00a0Martin Freeman<\/strong>\u2018s CIA agent Everett K. Ross was one of those, popping up in\u00a0Captain America: Civil War<\/em> before becoming an unexpected part of the\u00a0Black Panther<\/em> ensemble. So it was easy to expect that he would return for\u00a0Black Panther 2<\/em> <\/strong>\u2014 a return that Freeman himself previously confirmed.<\/p>\n

But then Chadwick Boseman<\/strong>\u2018s death dealt a blow to both the world and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. How would\u00a0Black Panther 2<\/em> move on without Boseman? Would the film be the same as the one that director\u00a0Ryan Coogler<\/strong> had been planning for the past few years? As far as we know, it will at least have the same cast, and can count on one more returning cast member in Freeman, who once again confirmed his commitment to the sequel.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Collider<\/a>, Freeman confirmed that he will be reprising his character of Everett K. Ross in\u00a0Black Panther 2<\/em>:<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I am doing the second\u00a0Black Panther<\/em>. I\u2019m going to be speaking to Ryan Coogler soon about what shape that\u2019s going to look like. I have no idea about the script<\/a> [so] I don\u2019t know what\u2019s going to happen. Just before Chadwick died, if my memory serves correctly, the script had gone in. They had the script and they were working on the script, and then Chadwick died, and [I] sort of immedia<\/a>tely thought, \u2018Oh, okay, I could see a world where there\u2019s no\u00a0Black Panther<\/em>\u00a0then, because how can you do a\u00a0Black Panther<\/em>\u00a0without Black Panther?\u2019 So, I still don\u2019t know what that\u2019s going to look like. And no, obviously, before Chad died, the idea of doing it without him would have been a stupid idea. It would have been crazy. It was very shocking, and still is very, very strange, that he is not here. So, I\u2019m as curious as you are to see what that will look like and I find out quite soon. All I know is that I\u2019m in it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Freeman doesn\u2019t give us much more of an idea of how\u00a0Black Panther 2<\/em> will move on without its star, but it appears that Coogler had finished a script before Boseman\u2019s tragic death that is being completely rewritten. The writer-director and Marvel\u2019s Kevin Feige has already gone on record saying that Boseman\u2019s role of T\u2019Challa will not be recast. However, we do know that\u00a0\u00a0Narcos: Mexico<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0star\u00a0Tenoch Huerta<\/strong>\u00a0has reportedly been cast as a villain in the sequel. We\u2019ll have to wait until next year to find out in what direction\u00a0Black Panther 2<\/em> goes, and what Everett K. Ross has been up to since fighting alongside the Wakandans.<\/p>\n

Black Panther 2\u00a0<\/em>is slated to hit theaters on July 8, 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
