Amid controversy over the 28-year-old rapp<\/a>er\u2019s electrifying performance with Megan Thee Stallion during the 2021 Grammy Awards<\/a>, Cardi B is defending her hit song \u201cWAP\u201d as \u201cmusic for adults,\u201d telling parents to \u201cstop expecting celebs to raise your kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

Their popping presentation featured two big hits: Cardi\u2019s \u201cUp,\u201d and 26-year-old Megan\u2019s two time Grammy-winning track, \u201cSavage,\u201d featuring Beyonc\u00e9. But it was the transition into their X-rated hit song of last year, \u201cWAP,\u201d that had conservative parents and pundits alike clutching their pearls.<\/p>\n

Among them was Fox News<\/a> soapboxer Candace Owens, who decried Cardi during an appearance on Tucker Carlson\u2019s show the following Monday, where she called the raunchy routine \u201can attack on American values, American traditions.\u201d <\/p>\n

Owens, 31, also accused the women of \u201cactively trying to make children aspire to things that are grotesque.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not one to let critics get the last word, Cardi addressed Owens\u2019 remarks on social media<\/a>, even thanking the right-wing crusader for amplifying her music.<\/p>\n

\u201cYaaaayyyyyyy WE MADE FOX NEWS GUYS !!! Wap wap wap,\u201d Cardi wrote in a now-deleted tweet, according to Baller Alert<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMatter fact I\u2019m just going to thank Candy (Owens) She put my performance on Fox News giving it more views that boosted the views on YouTube and is counting towards my streams and sales,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

During the segment, Owens went on to call the performance a harbinger of society\u2019s downfall. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s terrifying. I think parents should be terrified that this is the direction our society is heading towards,\u201d Owens asserted. \u201cWe are weakening America . . . We are about to see the end of an empire. America cannot survive \u2014 it cannot be sustained \u2014 with these sorts of values.\u201d<\/p>\n

In direct response, Cardi pointed to another conservative role model. \u201cI don\u2019t know why Candy is so bothered by WAP. I was just inspired by our former First Lady,\u201d Cardi joked, in reference to Melania Trump\u2019s infamous girl-on-girl shoot<\/a> for Max magazine in 1997.<\/p>\n

\u201cSTREAM UP AND WAP .REMEMBER GROWN PARENTS ONLY YOU CAN MONITOR WHAT YOUR KIDS WATCH NO1 ELSE,\u201d Cardi urged.<\/p>\n

The feud, which has existed between the two women for some time<\/a>, ensued on social media in the days following the Fox News segment, including accusations of slander tied to lurid statements<\/a> falsely applied to Owens, according to Snopes<\/a>, which ended with her vowing to sue the rapper<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Bronx-born rapper has continued her fight for freedom of speech on social media, even addressing fans who question her \u201cvalues\u201d as an artist and mother.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut how is this she empowering women with her music but doesn\u2019t let her daughter listen? Don\u2019t you wanna empower your daughter also?\u201d asked one follower on Instagram, according to a screenshot obtained by Baller Alert<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t make music for kids I make music for adults,\u201d Cardi wrote in response. \u201cParents are responsible on what their children listen too or see . . . I\u2019m a very sexual person but not around my child just like every other parent should be.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cMy daughter doesn\u2019t need to listen to music to be empowered neither should your children. The only way to empower your kids is by talking to them, boost their confidence and making sure they get a good education. I never ever said that WAP was made to empower women, I\u2019m just a freaky person and this is not the first sex song ever made. Stop expecting celebs to raise your kids.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
