This is the first time we\u2019ve captured sounds while driving on Mars.<\/p>\n<p>Read full story: <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/oqdnCJShjm\">https:\/\/t.co\/oqdnCJShjm<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yKwypUSnE7\">pic.twitter.com\/yKwypUSnE7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NASA&#8217;s Perseverance Mars Rover (@NASAPersevere) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NASAPersevere\/status\/1372294898804690944?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 17, 2021<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the\u00a0clip, you can also hear a discordant mix of bangs, pings, and rattles, as Perservance\u2019s<span>\u00a0six wheels roll over the rocky Martian terrain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIf I heard these sounds driving my car, I\u2019d pull over and call for a tow,\u201d said NASA engineer Dave Gruel. \u201cBut if you take a minute to consider what you\u2019re hearing and where it was recorded, it makes perfect sense.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The cause of the peculiar screech, however, remains unknown.<\/p>\n<p>Perseverance\u2019s engineers suspect it was triggered by\u00a0electromagnetic interference from the rover\u2019s electronics boxes or interactions between the mobility system and the Martian terrain. The team says they\u2019ll continue investigating the cause.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?visual=true&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F1009995607&amp;show_artwork=true&amp;maxwidth=500&amp;maxheight=750&amp;dnt=1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>NASA released two separate recordings of Perseverance\u2019s 90-foot drive on March 7.<\/p>\n<p>The first version\u00a0includes over 16 minutes of raw, unfiltered noises, generated by the rover\u2019s wheels and suspension rolling along the surface, as well as the high-pitched scratching.<\/p>\n<p>The second clip is a 90-second compilation of sounds from the journey, which were processed and edited for clarity.<\/p>\n<p>They were recorded by\u00a0Perseverance\u2019s entry, descent, and landing (EDL) microphone during a 90-foot drive on March 7.<\/p>\n<p>The off-the-shelf mic was added to the rover to let the public hear the sounds of its February 18 touchdown, but it remains operational today.<\/p>\n<p><em>[Read:\u00a0Elon Musk\u2019s SpaceX unveils plans for historic all-civilian mission to space]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A second microphone installed on Perseverance\u2019s SuperCam instrument has also been sending sent sounds back to Earth.<\/p>\n<p>They include recordings of the Martian wind sighing and a rapid ticking noise produced by the Supercam\u2019s laser z<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ing rocks to understand their structure. Scientists will use the data to search for signs of microscopic life.<\/p>\n<p>Vandi Verma, a NASA engineer and rover driver, said the audio alone offers insights about the red planet:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The variations between Earth and Mars \u2013 we have a feeling for that visually.
