Some folks will go to great lengths for the best meals, but this one really takes the cake. <\/p>\n

News<\/a> outlets throughout Asia reported this week that app<\/a>roximately 150 insatiable sushi fans in Taiwan have legally changed their names to \u201cSalmon\u201d as part of a restaurant promotion, according to Agence France-Presse in Taipei<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Causing a frenzy that\u2019s been dubbed \u201csalmon chaos\u201d by local media<\/a>, a marketing campaign promising virtually unlimited sushi to any customer at Akindo Sushiro<\/a> with the Chinese characters for \u201csalmon\u201d appearing on their identification card has prompted dozens of young people to rush government offices this week to make the name change. <\/p>\n

The promotion, which allowed for up to six guests per one \u201csalmon\u201d reference, ended Thursday, leaving an onslaught of paperwork for local government officials to process. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis kind of name change not only wastes time but causes unnecessary paperwork,\u201d said deputy interior minister Chen Tsung-yen, according to local reports<\/a>. The country permits their citizens to legally change their name up to three times \u2014 which means some could opt to change it back \u2014 but discourage doing so frivolously.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease be careful to take care of your good name,\u201d read a statement made by the ministry of the interior on Wednesday via Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cFive people requested a name change today and another six yesterday,\u201d said local registration office official Ou Minxin, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, the Washington Post reported<\/a>. \u201cWe have seen changed names such as \u2018Hotness Salmon,\u2019 \u2018Dip Wasabi and Eat Salmon,\u2019 and \u2018Can\u2019t Help but Want to Eat Free Salmon.\u2019\u2009\u201d<\/p>\n

In just one day, some 200 patrons with names that included \u201csalmon\u201d visited on Wednesday, said Akindo Sushiro marketing manager Dory Wang.<\/p>\n

A university student surnamed Ma told TVBS news channel in Kaohsiung that they had changed their name to \u201cbao cheng gui yu,\u201d which means something close to \u201cExplosive Good-looking Salmon,\u201d according to the Guardian. <\/p>\n

Other newly minted monikers included \u201cSalmon Prince,\u201d \u201cMeteor Salmon King\u201d and \u201cSalmon Fried Rice.\u201d One over-the-top marine fiend added a record 36 new characters to their name, most of which involved seafood, including the symbols for abalone, crab and lobster.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
