The report cited an anonymous senior Bithumb representative as stating, \u201cMorgan Stanley participated in the acquisition of Bithumb.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reason Morgan Stanley used Bident is because it understood that Bident has the right to negotiate a preferred sale to acquire Bithumb Holdings,\u201d said a second anonymous source familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Crypto analyst Joseph Young shared the news to Twitter, noting Bithumb is targeting a $2 billion valuation.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Wow.<\/p>\n<p>Morgan Stanley is reportedly bidding for Bithumb, South Korea&#8217;s top crypto and bitcoin exchange, for $2 billion valuation.<\/p>\n<p>Slowly, then surely.<\/p>\n<p>The explosiveness of institutional interest in this space right now is unprecedented.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Joseph Young (@iamjosephyoung) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iamjosephyoung\/status\/1372730694753906689?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 19, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>The news comes two days after Cointelegraph reported on an \u201cinternal memo\u201d from Morgan Stanley announcing the firm will launch three funds enabling Bitcoin ownership for wealthy customers with \u201can aggressive risk tolerance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eligible clients must be accredited investors and hold at least $2 million worth of capital with the company. Minimum investments into the funds are $5 million.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the news, Devin Ryan of U.S. investment bank JMP Securities <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/markets.businessinsider.com\/currencies\/news\/bitcoin-morgan-stanley-funds-tip-of-the-iceberg-jmp-cryptocurrencies-2021-3-1030225589\">predicted<\/a> Morgan Stanley\u2019s crypto-friendly funds will prompt other financial institutions to explore offering their clients exposure to digital assets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMotivations range from missing the opportunity at best, or at worst, seeing business disruption if clients decide better alternatives exist, which could negatively impact growth or competitive positioning,&#8221; Ryan said.<\/p>\n<p>Morgan Stanley did not immediately respond to Cointelegraph&#8217;s request for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"markets_outlook\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
