Shootings are soaring, but Mayor Bill de Blasio figures sending cops to knock on citizens\u2019 doors and lecture them about their hateful speech is a wise move.<\/p>\n

This was de Blasio\u2019s idea of how to react to the horrific massacre in Atlanta: Officers can prevent anti-Asian attacks if they show up at the doors of people accused of hate speech. It is \u201cperfectly app<\/a>ropriate\u201d for officers to \u201cconfront\u201d people for actions \u201cnot rising to a criminal level,\u201d he said; the warnings could have an \u201ceducating\u201d and \u201csobering impact\u201d on potential future criminals.<\/p>\n

What a hypocrite. De Blasio made a huge deal about having had \u201cthe talk\u201d with his black son about fearing cops and regularly slams supposed NYPD excesses. Yet now he wants the same officers to become conflict mitigators and social<\/a> judges?<\/p>\n

When lefties don\u2019t want to defund the police, they want them to be superheroes.<\/p>\n

In reality, cops aren\u2019t trained for anything like this, and an amateur warning could push a sicko like the alleged Atlanta perp over the edge.<\/p>\n

And, again, city police already have a far broader crime wave on their hands.<\/p>\n

Of course, the NYPD is already taking non-silly action, such as boosting its presence in Asian communities such as Chinatown and Flushing. And while anti-Asian attacks have been on the rise in cities all over the country since the pandemic began, the department is on that, too: The majority of 2020\u2019s 28 such attacks reported to the hate-crimes task force in 2020 ended in arrests.<\/p>\n

Sigh: It\u2019s still more than nine months before de Blasio is finally out of office.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
