“#Raptors nest on Universal Studios’ raptor-theme<\/a>d coaster<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Reality mimics movies<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since construction on Universal\u2019s Islands of Adventure Jurassic World VelociCoaster began in 2020 in Orlando, Fla., birds of prey have been attempting to nest in it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat looks to be an osprey has made its nest at the very top of the Jurassic Coaster\u2019s top hat,\u201d local blogger Alicia Stella tweeted<\/a> in August 2020, kicking off documentation of the fowl saga. \u201cYes, that does mean there is an actual raptor sitting atop the raptor coaster.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other bloggers descended upon the story and soon the bird\u2019s life was well-documented in near-daily social media<\/a> posts and pics, Vanity Fair<\/a> reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cOsprey with a mobile order of fish. In a tree at Islands of Adventure,\u201d anonymous theme park photographer @Bioreconstruct captioned a Feb. 25 bird shot.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cOsprey landing at a nesting platform as its mate looks upward.\u00a0Across the street from Islands of Adventure,\u201d\u00a0they wrote of a March 1<\/a> image.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On a March 11<\/a> image, they spied the \u201cVelociCoaster Osprey and friend at the nesting platform across the street from Islands of Adventure.\u201d<\/p>\n

The amusement park\u2019s attempts to dissuade the protected creature from nesting on the track of what will soon be a 70 mph theme ride have included removing their branches \u2014 which it just brought back \u2014 and placing a blue tarp on the location they\u2019d been nesting. The birds simply incorporated it into their nest.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe next morning, there\u2019s a big hole and a new nest in this, like, plastic-wrapped little home they made for her,\u201d Stella told Vanity Fair.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Thankfully, the osprey \u2014 and a mate she appears to have met during the attempted coaster occupation \u2014 have recently given up on the amusement park and found safer shelter on a nesting platform nearby.\u00a0<\/p>\n
