\n Michael Cohen could soon be back to chowing down in a prison cafeteria.<\/p>\n

The recently sprung jailbird was caught by The Post dining out on Manhattan\u2019s Upper East Side \u2014 and the meal may cost him his freedom, legal experts said Friday.<\/p>\n

Exclusive photos show President Trump\u2019s former personal lawyer seated at a sidewalk table outside Le Bilboquet, a French restaurant around the corner from his Park Avenue apartment, on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Cohen, his wife, Laura, and another couple spent about an hour chatting before they became the last patrons to leave around 11:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

At the time, staffers were preparing to close the eatery, where the \u201csignature\u201d dish of Cajun chicken costs $36 and a \u201cNew York Prime\u201d steak is $55.<\/p>\n

The Cohens both put on face masks before exchanging hugs with the other couple and walking off.<\/p>\n

Cohen, 53, is supposed to be serving a three-year sentence for crimes that include tax evasion, bank fraud and lying to Congress, as well as covering up hush-money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels and ex-Playboy model Karen McDougal.<\/p>\n

But the federal Bureau of Prisons released him due to the coronavirus crisis on May 20 \u2014 even though a judge had refused to reduce his sentence for the same reason two months earlier.<\/p>\n

\u201cTen months into his prison term, it\u2019s time that Cohen accept the consequences of his criminal convictions for serious crimes that had far reaching institutional harms,\u201d Manhattan federal Judge William Pauley wrote.<\/p>\n

Cohen\u2019s sentence is set to expire on Nov. 22, 2021, according to the BOP website.<\/p>\n

At the time of Cohen\u2019s release, his lawyer, Jeffrey K. Levine, told The New York Times, \u201cHe\u2019s glad to be home in a safer and healthier environment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s still his prison until his sentence is over,\u201d Levine added.<\/p>\n

But on Friday, Levine defended Cohen\u2019s evening out, saying that Cohen \u201cis currently on furlough\u201d and that he \u201cdid not violate any of the terms and conditions of his release \u2026 and any assertion or suggestion to the contrary would be wholly inaccurate and untrue.\u201d<\/p>\n

The BOP form for furlough app<\/a>lications requires that an inmate provide a furlough address and acknowledge by signature that \u201cI am authorized to be only in the area of the destination shown above and at ordinary stopovers or points on a direct route to or from that destination.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conditions listed on the form also include a provision that says, \u201cI will not leave the area of my furlough without permission, with exception of travel<\/a>ing to the furlough destination, and returning to the institution.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ex-BOP official Cameron Lindsay, a former warden at the federal lockup in Brooklyn, said Cohen\u2019s restaurant visit \u201cdoesn\u2019t look right\u201d and could be considered a violation of his furlough conditions.<\/p>\n

\u201cI find it unusual that he\u2019s out to dinner,\u201d said Lindsay, who now works as a consultant and expert witness.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know that I ever remember furloughs being approved for social<\/a> reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n

A prominent Manhattan defense attorney also called Cohen\u2019s actions \u201csomething that I\u2019ve never seen before\u201d and said it was \u201ccommon sense\u201d that \u201che shouldn\u2019t be dining at restaurants.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a privilege to furloughed as a result of the coronavirus,\u201d the lawyer said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis furlough should be revisited by the warden and it should be revoked.\u201d<\/p>\n

The BOP didn\u2019t respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n
