They\u2019re putting his neck on the line.<\/p>\n

A famous giraffe who\u2019s the staple of a popular California ranch attraction has been \u201cseized\u201d as evidence \u2014 after his owners were accused of breaking the law to keep him there.<\/p>\n

Stanley, who made a cameo in \u201cThe Hangover Part III,\u201d has lived among zebras, camels and other animals since 2015 at Malibu Wine Safari\u2019s Saddlerock Ranch, news station KABC reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But the state Department of Fish and Wildlife now claims the\u00a0owners never obtained the proper permits to operate a business with wild animals, the outlet reported. <\/p>\n

Malibu Wine Safaris owner and CEO Dakota Semler has been charged with maintaining an animal facility or a wild animal without a license, while her father Ron Semler has been accused of providing false information for Stanley\u2019s restricted species permit, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now, they\u2019re in unlawful possession of a giraffe,\u201d Capt. Patrick Foy of the Department of Fish and Wildlife told the outlet.<\/p>\n

Both Dakota and Ron Semler have pleaded not guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Stanley has been \u201cseized in place\u201d by authorities \u2014 since it\u2019s too difficult to actually move the 18-foot\u00a0creature, news<\/a> station KABC reported.<\/p>\n

Though his fate is uncertain, authorities said he\u2019ll remain at the ranch for now.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an unusual case,\u201d Foy told the outlet. \u201cI think what ultimately will force the decision on finding a new home for the giraffe is to let the criminal court cases play out.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
