And, because \u201cMexican American animators worked on nearly half\u201d his cartoons, \u201cHe danced our dances and dressed like a\u00a0jarocho<\/em>\u00a0(a native of Veracruz).\u201d Heck, \u201cHe was the only Mexican in Hollywood I knew who never lost \u2014 well, him and Cheech and Chong.\u201d<\/p>\n

Econ watch: $15 Wage Will Cost 1M Jobs<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cRaising the minimum wage will definitely cost jobs,\u201d\u00a0warns economist David Neumark at The Wall Street Journal<\/a>. The Congressional Budget Office \u201cestimated that 1.4 million jobs would be lost if\u201d Democrats\u2019 $15 federal minimum wage became law, yet critics \u201cwere quick to dismiss the CBO\u2019s conclusion.\u201d Neumark\u2019s \u201cextensive survey of research on minimum wages and job loss\u201d in America backs up the CBO. \u201cThe results are stark. Across all studies, 79 percent report that minimum wages reduced employment.\u201d The \u201codds of nearly 80 percent of studies finding negative employment effects if the true effect is zero is less than one in a million.\u201d Bottom line: Minimum-wage laws bring \u201ca substantial reduction in employment,\u201d especially for \u201cthe lowest earners most directly affected by raising the minimum wage.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cmuch-hyped, much-cited\u201d new Office of the Director of National Intelligence report, Foreign Threats to the 2020 Elections, comes with a remarkable \u201ccaveat at the end,\u201d notes Matt Taibbi at TK News,<\/a> namely: \u201cJudgments are not intended to imply that we have proof that shows something to be a fact.\u201d Says Taibbi: \u201cWe\u2019ve spent the last five years watching as anonymous officials make major Russia-related claims, only to have those evidence-free claims fizzle,\u201d from the \u201cchanged RNC platform\u201d tale to \u201cMichael Cohen\u2019s alleged secret meetings in Prague with Russian conspirators\u201d and beyond. In fact, \u201cthe clear aim of this report is to cast certain stories about Joe or Hunter Biden as misinformation, when the evidence more likely shows that material like the Hunter Biden emails is real.\u201d<\/p>\n

Libertarian: Cops Should Not Patrol Hate Speech<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mayor de Blasio \u201csuggested that one way to combat anti-Asian hate would be for the New York Police Department to warn people not to be hateful,\u201d\u00a0fumes Reason\u2019s Robby Soave<\/a>. \u201cHate speech is in fact protected by the First Amendment,\u201d and \u201cunless you\u2019re committing a crime, your actions are no business of the government\u2019s.\u201d And giving cops more reasons to knock on doors increases \u201cthe chances of a bad encounter.\u201d Without immense trust \u201cbetween cops and the communities they serve,\u201d de Blasio\u2019s proposal \u201cis likely to worsen the problem.\u201d Anyway, \u201ccops\u2019 time is better spent investigating violent crime than warning people not to be haters.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alexi McCammond, derailed from running Teen Vogue magazine, was the latest \u201cburnt offering\u201d to the \u201ccrazed, lusty mob\u201d publicly burning witches \u201cat the stake in the town square,\u201d\u00a0snarks The Washington Times\u2019 Charles Hurt<\/a>. McCammond\u2019s sins? \u201cTwitter messages she wrote as a college freshman over a decade ago,\u201d indicating only that she\u2019s a \u201cformer idiot young person in college who typed stupid, idiotic messages on social media<\/a>.\u201d But \u201cthere is, literally, no travesty on Earth these twisted maggots won\u2019t exploit to push their rotten political agenda.\u201d Now they\u2019re twisting the \u201chorrific murders\u201d at Atlanta massage parlors to fit into \u201ctheir preconceived fever dreams about some kind of war on \u2018Asian-Americans.\u2019 \u201d That \u201cthere is no evidence whatsoever to support their racist conspiracy theories\u201d has done \u201clittle to dampen the mob\u2019s enthusiasm for their imagined war.\u201d<\/p>\n
